이번 활동은 대형 산불을 방지하기 위해 전직원 비상근무를 실시하며, 시와 구·군 공무원들이 중심이 되어 지속적으로 진행 중이다.

현재 대구시는 전역에 건조특보가 발효된 상태로, 벚꽃과 개나리 등 봄꽃들이 만개하면서 상춘객들이 몰리고, 청명과 한식을 맞아 성묘객들도 많아질 것으로 예상된다. 이로 인해 실화에 의한 산불 발생 가능성이 높아졌다고 보고, 대구시는 이를 방지하기 위해 긴급 대응에 나섰다.

이번 기간 동안 대구시 전역의 주요 등산로를 포함한 245개소에서 하루 평균 650명의 공무원이 산불 감시 활동을 진행하며, 입산객들에게 화재 발생 시 대피요령과 산불 예방의 중요성을 안내하고 있다.

또한, 고의나 실화에 의한 산불은 산림보호법 제53조에 따라 3년 이하의 징역형 또는 최대 3천만 원 이하의 벌금이 부과될 수 있는 중대한 범죄임을 알려 시민들의 경각심을 고취시킬 예정이다.
