【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구의 시민단체가 최근 대구가톨릭대병원 신생아중환자실에서 불거진 신생아 학대 논란에 대해 비판에 나섰다.

7일 우리복지시민연합은 해당 논란과 관련해 “경찰의 엄중하고 철저한 수사와 대구가톨릭대병원의 재발방지대책을 촉구한다”고 밝혔다.

앞서 대구가톨릭대병원 신생아중환자실에서 근무하던 간호사 A씨가 자신의 SNS에 신생아사진과 함께 조롱하거나 학대하는 듯 한 글을 게시해 논란이 일었다. 이에 대구가톨릭대병원은 직접 병원 공식 유튜브 채널을 통해 사과했다.

이에 대해 우리복지시민연합은 “대학병원 측은 처음 개인 일탈로 처리하려다 오히려 논란이 일파만파 퍼지고 비난이 커지자 공식사과에 이른 것으로 보인다”고 주장했다.

그러면서 “이번 사건으로 신뢰와 믿음이 깨졌다는 점에서 간호사의 일탈 문제를 넘어 병원의 책임이 더욱 무겁다고 할 수 있다”며 “병원 측이 밝힌 것처럼 가장 연약하고 보호받아야 할 신생아를 대상으로 이루어졌으며 그것도 중환자실에서 발생해 결코 책임에서 자유로울 수 없다”고 강조했다.

우리복지시민연합은 “추가 학대 의혹까지 제기되고 있는 만큼 경찰의 철저하고 엄중한 수사와 대구가톨릭대병원의 재발방지 대책의 조속한 마련과 공개를 촉구한다”며 “병원 측이 밝힌 철저한 조사, 적극적인 후속조치와 재발방지 대책뿐 아니라 조직문화와 시스템 점검까지 지속적으로 모니터링 해야한다”고 덧붙였다.
