【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=계명대학교(총장 신일희)가 최근 경북 지역에서 발생한 대규모 산불 피해 복구와 이재민 지원을 위해 전방위적 지원에 나섰다.

임시 대피소 청소와 세탁 지원을 시작으로, 긴급구호 성금 전달, 장학금 지급, 진로 체험 프로그램 운영 등 다양한 활동을 전개하고 있다.

지난 4월 5일, 계명대 학생봉사단은 안동시 임하면 복지회관에서 이동 빨래방 봉사활동을 펼쳤다. 대피소 내부 청소와 세탁을 지원하며 피해 주민들에게 실질적인 도움을 제공했으며, 이번 봉사에는 미얀마 출신 유학생 2명도 참여, 국제적인 연대의 의미를 더했다.

또한 교직원 급여 1% 기부로 운영되는 **‘계명1%사랑나누기’**를 통해 3천만 원의 긴급구호 성금이 전달됐다. 학교 측은 조만간 긴급 복구 봉사단도 피해 현장에 투입할 예정이며, 학생자치기구를 중심으로 성금 모금 활동도 활발히 진행되고 있다.

심리적 충격을 겪고 있는 이재민과 학생들을 위해 계명대 학생상담센터는 재난 심리 상담과 교육 프로그램을 운영 중이다. 이는 정서 회복과 일상 복귀를 위한 중요한 지원책으로 평가된다.

교육 기회 보호 차원에서도 다양한 노력이 이어지고 있다. 계명대는 산불 피해 지역 고등학생을 대상으로 진로 체험 프로그램과 대입 전형 컨설팅을 제공, 맞춤형 상담과 멘토링으로 학생들이 학업을 이어갈 수 있도록 돕고 있다.

특히 특별재난지역 피해 학생들에게는 최대 100만 원의 장학금을 지급하여 경제적 부담을 덜어줄 예정이다.

신일희 총장은 “이번 산불로 큰 피해를 입은 지역 주민들이 하루빨리 일상으로 돌아갈 수 있도록 학교 차원의 모든 역량을 모아 지원할 것”이라며, “지역사회와 함께 위기를 극복해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 계명대는 그간 ‘계명1%사랑나누기’를 통해 국내외 재난 지역에 총 6억 8천만 원 이상의 성금을 전달한 바 있다. 이번에도 지역사회와의 동행을 실천하며 대학의 사회적 책임을 다하고 있다.

President Shin Il-hee said, “We will gather all of the capabilities of the school to support residents who suffered great damage from this wildfire so that they can return to their daily lives as soon as possible,” and “We will overcome this crisis together with the local community.”
