7일 오후, 시청 대외협력실에서 열린 전달식에는 김일만 의장을 비롯해 이재진 부의장과 각 상임위원장들이 참석해 산불 피해 복구 성금을 전달했다.

이번 성금은 시의회가 지난 1일 열린 전체 의원 간담회에서 자발적으로 뜻을 모은 것으로, “지진과 태풍 힌남노 피해 당시 타 시군의 도움을 잊지 말고, 이번엔 포항이 힘을 보태자”는 취지 아래 의원들과 직원들이 자율적으로 성금 모금에 동참했다.

김일만 의장은 “산불로 삶의 터전을 잃은 주민들의 고통에 깊이 공감하며, 하루빨리 일상을 되찾기를 진심으로 바란다”며 “시의회는 언제나 시민의 아픔에 함께할 것”이라고 전했다.

한편, 포항시의회는 앞서 안동, 의성, 청송, 영양, 영덕 등 산불 피해 지역을 직접 방문해 구호물품을 전달하고, 피해 복구를 위한 협력 방안에 대해 현지 의회 및 관계 공무원들과 논의하는 등 현장 지원 활동도 펼친 바 있다.
