【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=친환경 소재 전문기업 에코프로가 따뜻한 봄을 맞아 사업장 인근 지역의 환경 개선을 위한 대규모 정화활동을 펼치며 지역사회와의 상생 행보를 이어가고 있다.

에코프로는 지난 23일 오후 포항시 북구 장량동 침촌지구 근린공원 일대에서 ‘에코클린데이(Eco Clean Day)’ 환경정화활동을 실시했다고 밝혔다. 이날 행사에는 임직원 270여 명이 자발적으로 참여해 쾌적한 주거 환경 조성에 힘을 보탰다.

장량동은 에코프로 포항캠퍼스가 위치한 영일만일반산업단지와 인접한 대규모 주거지역으로, 많은 에코프로 직원들이 실제 거주하며 지역사회 구성원으로 살아가고 있는 곳이다.

이번 활동은 지역 주민에게 깨끗하고 쾌적한 생활환경을 제공함과 동시에, 임직원들이 환경보호에 대한 지속적인 관심과 책임감을 가질 수 있도록 기획됐다.

정화활동에 나선 직원들은 침촌공원 인근 도로, 녹지, 산책로를 직접 걸으며 방치된 쓰레기를 수거했다. 이날 수거된 쓰레기 양은 약 300포대에 달했으며, 장량동 행정복지센터의 협조로 모두 처리장으로 안전하게 이송됐다.

에코프로 관계자는 “침촌공원은 주민들과 임직원 모두가 자주 찾는 소중한 휴식처”라며 “이번 활동을 통해 보다 깨끗하고 쾌적한 환경을 제공하고, 지역사회와 함께 성장하는 상생의 기업문화를 실천해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 에코프로는 앞으로도 지역사회 기여와 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 경영 실천을 위한 다양한 활동을 지속적으로 전개할 계획이다.

Jangnyang-dong is a large residential area adjacent to the Yeongil Bay General Industrial Complex where EcoPro Pohang Campus is located, and many EcoPro employees actually reside there and live as members of the local community.

This activity was planned to provide a clean and pleasant living environment to local residents, while also encouraging employees to have a continuous interest in and sense of responsibility for environmental protection.

The employees who participated in the cleanup activity walked the roads, green spaces, and walking paths near Chimchon Park and collected abandoned trash. The amount of trash collected that day was approximately 300 bags, and with the cooperation of Jangryang-dong Administrative Welfare Center, all of it was safely transported to the treatment plant.

An EcoPro official said, “Chimchon Park is a precious resting place that both residents and employees frequently visit,” and “Through this activity, we will provide a cleaner and more pleasant environment and practice a corporate culture of mutual growth with the local community.”

Meanwhile, EcoPro plans to continue to carry out various activities to contribute to the local community and practice ESG (environment, society, and governance) management.
