이날 간담회에서는 포항시 관계 부서로부터 APEC 회의 관련 사업 추진 현황을 보고받고, 국제행사를 계기로 지역 이미지 제고와 실질적 성과 창출을 위한 다양한 방안이 논의됐다.

의원들은 APEC 기간 동안 포항을 알릴 수 있는 국제 포럼과 문화행사 등을 적극 유치하고, 지역을 방문하는 각국 경제인 및 사절단과의 지속적인 교류를 위한 기반 마련을 주문했다. 특히 첨단산업, 관광 등 포항의 핵심 자원과 연계해 실질적인 협력으로 이어질 수 있도록 행정적 지원을 당부했다.

의원들은 추경예산 편성 시 건전재정 기조 유지와 함께 에코빌리지 부지 선정의 투명성, AI컴퓨팅센터 사업의 기한 내 추진, APEC 기간 중 포항경주공항의 글로벌 CEO 전용 공항 활용 시 인근 주민 및 학교와의 사전 소통 필요성도 강조했다.

김일만 포항시의회 의장은 “이번 간담회는 포항시와 시의회가 지역 현안을 함께 점검하고, 시민이 체감할 수 있는 발전적 해법을 모색하는 소중한 시간이었다”며 “특히 APEC 정상회의는 포항의 국제적 위상을 높이고 지역경제를 활성화할 수 있는 기회인 만큼, 시와 유기적으로 협력해 철저히 준비해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
