【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=한국가스공사(사장 최연혜)는 26일 부산항국제전시컨벤션센터(BPEX)에서 열린 ‘2025년 제4회 한국 ESG 혁신정책 대상’ 시상식에서 환경 부문 우수상을 수상했다고 밝혔다.

한국 ESG 혁신정책 대상은 사단법인 한국정책학회가 2022년부터 주최해, 지속 가능한 ESG 경영 활동을 통해 성과를 낸 공공기관과 공기업을 선정해 시상하는 제도다.

가스공사는 이번 수상에서 △친환경·고효율 LNG 설비 전환 △온실가스 감축 노력 △체계적인 환경 오염원 배출 관리 △생물다양성 확대 및 환경 보전 활동 △국가 온실가스 감축 목표 달성을 위한 천연가스 산업 선도 등에서 공로를 인정받았다.

가스공사는 국내 최고 에너지 기업으로서 안전하고 안정적인 천연가스 공급 임무를 수행하면서 환경 영향 최소화와 기후 변화 완화를 위한 친환경 경영을 지속해왔다.

또한 환경 부문뿐 아니라, 공기업 최초로 취약계층 에너지 복지 향상을 위한 도시가스 요금 경감 대신신청 제도 도입, 중소기업 동반 성장을 위한 해외 판로 확대 지원 등 사회적 책임 이행 활동도 이어가고 있다.

가스공사 관계자는 “그동안 탄소중립 체계 구축과 환경 오염물 배출 최소화에 노력한 성과가 결실을 맺어 뜻깊다”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 ESG 혁신을 통해 국민과 함께 성장하는 친환경 에너지 기업으로 거듭나겠다”고 말했다.

Korea Gas Corporation Wins Excellence Award in the Environment Category at the 2025 Korea ESG Innovation Policy Awards

Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) (President Choi Yeon-hye) announced that it won the Excellence Award in the Environment Category at the 4th Korea ESG Innovation Policy Awards 2025, held at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center (BPEX) on August 26th.

The Korea ESG Innovation Policy Awards, hosted by the Korea Policy Association since 2022, recognize public institutions and public corporations that have demonstrated outstanding performance through sustainable ESG management activities.

KOGAS was recognized for its contributions to: 1) conversion to eco-friendly and high-efficiency LNG facilities; 2) greenhouse gas reduction efforts; 3) systematic management of pollutant emissions; 4) biodiversity expansion and environmental conservation activities; and 5) leading the natural gas industry in achieving national greenhouse gas reduction targets.

As Korea's leading energy company, KOGAS has consistently pursued eco-friendly management practices to minimize environmental impact and mitigate climate change while fulfilling its mission of providing a safe and stable natural gas supply.

Moreover, beyond the environmental sector, KOGAS is also continuing its social responsibility initiatives, including the introduction of a system for requesting city gas rate reductions in lieu of payment to improve energy welfare for vulnerable groups, the first public corporation to do so, and support for expanding overseas markets to foster shared growth with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
