【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=경북도와 포항시는 지역 바이오산업 육성과 활성화를 목표로 ‘2025 경북바이오산업 엑스포’를 개막했다고 11일 밝혔다.

‘첨단 Bio, 미래를 여는 경북’을 주제로 열리는 이번 엑스포는 산·학·연·관이 함께하는 교류의 장으로, 오는 13일까지 사흘간 포항 체인지업그라운드, 포스코 국제관, 포스코 생명공학연구센터 일원에서 진행된다.

행사 기간 동안 전시 관람회, 국제 심포지엄, 컨퍼런스, 기업 투자·수출 상담회 등 다양한 프로그램을 통해 최신 바이오산업 동향을 공유하고 미래 전략을 논의한다.

개막식에서는 제임스 유(James J. Yoo) 미국 웨이크포레스트 재생의료연구소 부소장이 ‘재생의학 제품의 생산 및 원활한 전달체계 확립을 위한 전략’을 주제로 기조연설을 했다. 그는 재생의학 제품의 제조·임상 적용 효율화 방안을 제시하고, 첨단 기술이 환자 치료로 이어질 수 있는 비전을 설명해 큰 호응을 얻었다.

이어 경상북도, 포항시, 범부처재생의료기술개발사업단, 포스텍, 한동대학교, 포항테크노파크, 포항바이오산업협회가 ‘경북 첨단재생바이오 산업 육성을 위한 상호 업무협력 협약(MOU)’을 체결, 기술·연구 교류와 제도적 연계를 강화하기로 했다.

엑스포 기간 중에는 바이오·의약, 그린바이오, 푸드테크, 헴프 등 4개 분야에서 국내외 석학 80여 명이 참여하는 컨퍼런스가 열린다. ‘구조 기반 신약개발 국제 심포지엄’, ‘그린바이오산업 국제컨퍼런스’ 등이 마련돼 심도 있는 논의가 이뤄진다.

또한 체인지업그라운드에서는 국내외 투자자가 참여하는 투자·수출 상담회가 열려 우수 기술 보유 기업에 맞춤형 컨설팅과 투자 상담을 제공하고, 해외 진출 기회도 모색한다. 전시관에서는 최신 바이오산업 트렌드를 한눈에 볼 수 있으며, 이끼 테라리움 만들기, 비즈 DNA 열쇠고리 제작 등 체험 프로그램도 마련돼 일반 관람객의 참여를 유도한다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “지난 10년간 꾸준히 다져온 바이오산업 기반이 이번 엑스포를 통해 결실을 맺는 본격적인 성과의 장이 될 것”이라며 “기업 경쟁력 강화와 글로벌 미래 성장 거점 도약을 위한 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다

Gyeongbuk and Pohang Open '2025 Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Expo'

Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Pohang City announced on the 11th that they have opened the '2025 Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Expo' with the goal of fostering and revitalizing the local bio industry.

At the opening ceremony, James J. Yoo, Associate Director of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, delivered a keynote address on "Strategies for Establishing a Smooth Production and Delivery System for Regenerative Medicine Products." He presented a plan to improve the efficiency of manufacturing and clinical application of regenerative medicine products and outlined a vision for how cutting-edge technologies can lead to patient treatment, drawing a positive response.

Following this, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Pohang City, the Inter-Ministry Regenerative Medicine Technology Development Project, POSTECH, Handong Global University, Pohang Technopark, and the Pohang Bio Industry Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Mutual Cooperation for the Promotion of Gyeongbuk's Advanced Regenerative Bio Industry, pledging to strengthen technological and research exchanges and institutional connections.

During the expo, conferences will be held in four fields: biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, green biotechnology, food technology, and hemp, with the participation of approximately 80 leading domestic and international scholars. In-depth discussions will be facilitated through the "International Symposium on Structure-Based New Drug Development" and the "International Conference on Green Biotechnology."

Change Up Ground will also host investment and export consultations for domestic and international investors, offering tailored consulting and investment advice to companies with outstanding technologies and exploring opportunities for overseas expansion. The exhibition hall offers a glimpse into the latest bioindustry trends, and hands-on programs like moss terrarium making and beaded DNA keychain making are also planned to encourage participation from the general public.

Pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, "This expo will be a true showcase for the bioindustry foundation we have steadily built over the past decade. We will spare no effort in supporting this effort to strengthen corporate competitiveness and establish it as a global growth hub for the future."
