포항시는 12일 시청 대회의실에서 9월 확대간부회의를 개최하고, 10월 말 열리는 APEC 정상회의 기간 영일만항에 운영될 플로팅 호텔(해외 방문객 숙박 크루즈선) 준비 상황을 점검했다.

이 시장은 “플로팅 호텔은 포항의 글로벌 위상 강화와 지역경제 파급효과를 동시에 이끌 수 있는 만큼 철저한 준비로 경제 효과를 극대화해야 한다”며 전 부서의 적극적인 대응을 주문했다.

또한 최근 포항시가 ‘산업위기 선제대응지역’으로 지정된 것과 관련해 “정부와 긴밀히 협력해 개별 사업을 지속 발굴하고, 고용위기 선제대응지역 지정 추진과 K-스틸법 제정 등을 통해 철강산업의 근본적 회복 전환점을 마련해야 한다”고 강조했다.

다가오는 추석 연휴에 대비해 관광객 유치를 통한 관광지·전통시장 활성화와 가을 태풍에 선제적으로 대응할 수 있는 체계 강화도 지시했다.

이 시장은 최근 포스코 직원 기숙사의 시내 이전 사례를 언급하며, 청림·일월동의 국토교통부 도시재생사업 선정과 천원 주택 정책 등과 연계해 균형 있는 지역 발전을 추진할 것을 주문했다.

아울러 미국 워싱턴 D.C. 방문 당시 철강 관세 인하 캠페인과 관련해 “미국의 50% 고율 관세로 인한 철강산업 위기를 직접 알리고, 정부와 국민적 공감대를 형성하기 위해 추진했다”고 설명했다.

회의에서는 공무원 사칭 피해 사례 공유와 시민 피해 예방을 위한 대응 조치 및 홍보 강화 방안도 논의됐다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “지역 경제를 활성화하고 미래 성장 동력을 확보하기 위해 전 부서가 합심해 실질적인 성과가 창출될 수 있도록 매진해 달라”고 말했다.

Referring to the recent relocation of POSCO's employee dormitory to the city center, Mayor Lee urged the promotion of balanced regional development in conjunction with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's selection of Cheongnim and Ilwol-dong as urban regeneration projects and the 1,000-won housing policy. He also explained that, regarding the steel tariff reduction campaign he launched during his visit to Washington, D.C., he "launched this campaign to directly raise awareness of the steel industry crisis caused by the U.S.'s 50% tariff and to build consensus with the government and the public."

The meeting also discussed sharing cases of public official impersonation and strengthening response measures and public relations to prevent harm to citizens.
