【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항시는 중소벤처기업부 주관 ‘2025년도 전통시장 활성화 유공 포상’에서 우수기관으로 선정돼 중소벤처기업부 장관 표창을 수상했다고 21일 밝혔다.

시에 따르면 중소벤처기업부는 매년 전통시장 상인과 관계자의 사기 진작과 자긍심 고취를 위해 전통시장 활성화에 기여한 유공자 및 단체를 선정해 포상한다.

올해 지자체 부문 포상은 전국 지자체 중 15곳이 선정됐으며, 경북도에서는 포항시가 유일하게 수상의 영예를 안았다.

포항시는 ▲특성화시장 육성사업(첫걸음기반조성, 문화관광형시장, 디지털전통시장) ▲시장경영패키지 지원사업 ▲시설 현대화 및 주차환경 개선사업 ▲화재알림시설 설치사업 등 국·도비 공모사업을 적극 추진해 그 공로를 인정받았다.

그뿐만 아니라 영일만친구 야시장 행사, 전통시장 장보기 투어, 전통시장 우수상품 박람회 개최 등 기관 자체의 활성화 사업을 지속해서 추진하고 있다는 점에서도 높은 평가를 받았다.

특히 2025년 설 명절에는 민관협력형 릴레이 장보기 챌린지를 10여 주간 운영해 14개 기관, 2,000여 명이 참여하며 지역상권 살리기에 동참했으며, 장보기 투어를 통한 전통시장과 포항 관광 연계 프로그램을 운영해 지역경제 활성화에도 기여하고 있다.

이 밖에도 화재안전시설 보수공사, 불법촬영카메라 탐지기 설치사업 등을 통해 시민이 안심하고 찾을 수 있는 시장 환경 조성에 힘을 쏟고 있다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “이번 수상은 포항시와 상인들이 함께 전통시장 활성화를 위해 꾸준히 노력한 결실”이라며 “앞으로도 상인과 방문객 모두가 만족할 수 있는 ‘찾고 싶은 전통시장’ 조성 지원 정책을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 말했다.
