청원경찰법은 지난 2010년 2월 전문을 개정한 후, 같은 해 7월 시행한 뒤 2022년 11월 개정됐다.

최근에는  2024년 8월 일부개정안이 임호선 의원에 의해 재안됐다. 이후 전용기 의원과 모경종, 박균택, 또 모경종 의원등이 추가로 개정안을 발의했다. 그러나 해당 개정안은 국회 문턱을 넘지 못하고 있다. 

개정안의 주요 내용은 대부부 긍급기간 단축 및 직무 범위의 확대를 담고 있는 만큼, 청원경찰의 직무와 안정적 직장에 대한 취지와 지원을 답고 있다. 따라서 개정안의 국회 통과 여부에 따라 이들의 삶의질과 자신의 직장에 대한 자긍심이 대국민서비스로 이어질 수 있는상황이다. 

협의회 대표는 이날 국감 현장에서 감사위원들에 일일이 취지를 설명하며 관심을 요청했다.

The amendment's main content, which largely includes shortening the probation period and expanding the scope of duties, reflects the purpose and support for the duties and stable employment of petition police officers. Therefore, depending on whether the amendment passes the National Assembly, their quality of life and pride in their jobs could translate into improved public service.

During the National Assembly audit that day, the council representative explained the purpose to each member of the audit committee and requested their attention.
