【브레이크뉴스 경북도】이성현 기자=경상북도는 성평등가족부가 주관한 ‘2025년 여성친화도시 지정 심사’에서 도내 2개 시군이 새롭게 여성친화도시로 지정되면서, 기존 4개 시군을 포함해 총 6개 시군으로 확대됐다고 밝혔다.

현재 경북의 여성친화도시는 포항시, 경주시, 구미시, 칠곡군 등 4개 시군이었으며, 이번 심사 결과 경산시와 의성군이 신규 지정되고, 칠곡군은 재지정됐다.

재지정된 칠곡군은 지난 지정 기간 동안 여성의 사회참여 확대와 지역 성평등 문화 확산을 위한 정책을 적극 추진한 점을 높이 평가받았다.

신규 지정된 경산시와 의성군은 지역 특성을 반영한 여성 안전환경 조성, 돌봄 인프라 확충, 여성의 경제·사회활동 참여 확대 계획에서 높은 점수를 얻었다.

여성친화도시는 여성의 역량 강화와 돌봄 및 안전환경 조성, 성평등 문화 확산을 목표로 하는 제도로, 성평등가족부가 매년 심사를 거쳐 지정한다.

경상북도는 저출생 극복과 일·생활 균형 실현을 위해 여성친화도시 조성을 적극 확대하고 있다. 특히, 올해 처음으로 ‘여성친화도시 지역 특화사업’을 공모해 지역 특성에 맞는 정책을 발굴·지원하고, 사업 컨설팅을 실시하는 등 ‘경북형 여성친화도시 조성 사업’을 본격 추진 중이다.

경북도는 이번 지정을 계기로 여성친화도시 지정을 준비하는 시군에 대한 행·재정적 지원을 강화하고, 지정 도시를 지속적으로 확대해 나갈 방침이다.

엄태현 경상북도 저출생극복본부장은 “이번 여성친화도시 확대는 도민 모두가 안전하고 평등한 삶을 누릴 수 있는 지역사회를 만들어가는 중요한 전환점”이라며, “앞으로도 여성과 남성이 함께 성장하는 지역 공동체를 조성하기 위해 실질적인 성평등 정책을 적극 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
