올해로 20회째를 맞는 이번 행사는 ‘꼭지 달린 경북 사과, 꼭지 그대로! 신선함 그대로!’를 주제로 진행되며, 경북도와 사과 주산지 14개 시군협의회가 주최하고 대경사과원예농업협동조합이 주관한다. ‘꼭지 달린 사과’는 생산자의 노동력·인건비 절감과 소비자의 합리적 구매 가격이라는 두 가지 장점을 갖춘 제품으로, 행사에서는 이러한 특성을 집중 홍보한다.

행사 첫날인 10일 개막식에는 양금희 경상북도 경제부지사와 경상북도의회 의장, 국회의원, 사과 주산지 시장·군수, 대경사과원예농협 관계자, 출향 인사, 사과 농가 등 1,000여 명이 참석했다. 참석자들은 식전 공연, ‘경북 사과산업 대전환 및 꼭지 달린 사과’ 홍보영상 관람, 기념 퍼포먼스 등을 함께하며 본격적인 행사 시작을 알렸다.
