이 시장은 먼저 한병도 국회 예산결산특별위원장을 만나 포항시 역점사업이 정부 예산안에 반영될 수 있도록 협조를 요청했다. 이어 예결위 간사 박형수·임미애 의원과 산업통상자원중소벤처기업위원회 박성민·구자근 의원을 만나 철강산업 위기 극복과 산업위기 선제대응지역 지정 관련 사업이 차질 없이 추진될 수 있도록 건의했다. 특히 기획재정위원장 임이자 의원과의 면담에서는 포항이 바이오 등 신산업 육성과 지역 균형 발전에서 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 강조하며 사업 반영 필요성을 역설했다.

포항시가 국회에 증액 건의를 요청한 사업은 모두 16건, 총 2,105억 원 규모다. 주요 내용은 철강산업 위기 대응을 위한 이차보전금(22억 원)과 고용안정 지원(73억 원), AI 융합 실증 허브 구축(40억 원) 등 산업위기 선제대응사업, AI 기반 펩타이드 플랫폼(36억 원)과 그래핀 나노소재 실증 기반 구축(30억 원), 글로벌 K-푸드테크 기업 육성(11억 원) 등 미래 신성장 동력 사업, 포항영일만횡단대교 건설(1,715억 원), 포항역 주차난 해소를 위한 선상연결 통로(44억 원) 등 SOC 사업이 포함됐다.

The Budget and Accounts Subcommittee, the main stage of the budget review, is scheduled to convene on the 17th.
