【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구광역시는 11월 18일 오후 2시 30분, 계명대학교 동영관에서 ‘대구광역시 외국인 유학생 원스톱지원센터’와 ‘거점 한국어센터’ 현판식을 열고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다.

이번 현판식은 대구시 RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계) 사업의 일환으로 추진된 두 센터의 공식 개소를 기념하는 자리로, 계명대학교가 주관대학으로서 센터 운영을 맡는다.

‘외국인 유학생 원스톱지원센터’는 유학생 유치 단계부터 지역 정착까지 아우르는 종합 지원 체계를 구축하기 위해 마련된 공간으로, 지역 10개 대학이 참여하는 협의회를 기반으로 운영된다. 센터는 유학생 유치 공동 대응, 학업 및 진로·취업 지원, 정주 환경 조성 등 다각적인 지원 프로그램을 추진할 예정이다.

한편 ‘거점 한국어센터’는 계명대학교와 경북대학교가 각각 서남권·동북권 주관대학으로 선정돼 운영된다. 서남권 센터는 계명대를 중심으로 대구경북과학기술원, 영진전문대 등 6개 대학이, 동북권 센터는 경북대를 중심으로 대구보건대, 영남이공대 등 4개 대학이 참여한다.

거점 한국어센터는 외국인 유학생을 위한 한국어 교육뿐 아니라 교육과정 개발, 한국어 강사 재교육, 교수법 연구, 모의 TOPIK(한국어능력시험) 운영 등 한국어 교육 전반을 체계적으로 지원한다.

이은아 대구광역시 대학정책국장은 “두 센터를 중심으로 해외 우수 인재 유치와 유학생의 학업·생활 지원을 더욱 강화하겠다”며 “우수한 유학생들이 대구에서 취업하고 정주하며 미래를 설계할 수 있도록 지속적으로 뒷받침하겠다”고 말했다.

Daegu Metropolitan City held a signboard unveiling ceremony at Keimyung University's Dongyeong Hall at 2:30 PM on November 18th, marking the official opening of the "Daegu Metropolitan City International Student One-Stop Support Center" and the "Key Korean Language Center."

This ceremony commemorated the official opening of the two centers, which were implemented as part of Daegu City's RISE (Regional Innovation-Oriented University Support System) project. Keimyung University will be the lead university and operate them.

The "One-Stop Support Center for International Students" is designed to establish a comprehensive support system encompassing everything from international student recruitment to local settlement. It will be operated by a council comprised of ten local universities. The center will implement a variety of support programs, including joint efforts to attract international students, academic and career/employment support, and fostering a positive living environment.

Meanwhile, Keimyung University and Kyungpook National University will be selected as the host universities for the Southwest and Northeast regions, respectively, to operate the "Base Korean Language Centers." The Southwest Center will be led by Keimyung University, along with six universities including Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology and Yeungjin College. The Northeast Center will be led by Kyungpook National University, along with four universities including Daegu Health College and Yeungnam College of Science and Technology.

The Base Korean Language Centers will systematically support all aspects of Korean language education, including curriculum development, instructor retraining, teaching method research, and mock TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) testing.

Lee Eun-ah, Director of the University Policy Bureau of Daegu Metropolitan City, stated, "With these two centers as the focal point, we will further strengthen the recruitment of outstanding international talent and support for international students' academic and living arrangements. We will continue to support these outstanding international students so they can find employment, settle down, and plan their futures in Daegu."
