헌법과 국민 이익을 지키기 위한 싸움은 진영을 가려서는 안 된다. 정부가 '론스타 ISDS 4천억 배상 판결'에 항소해서 국민 혈세의 대규모 출혈을 막은 건 당연한 일이고 최소한의 책무였다. 그런데도 이를 두고 "이재명 정권의 명백한 치적"이니 "쾌거"니 하며 생색을 내며, 무관한 공적을 가로채려는 기자회견과 견강부회는 지금도 소름돋을만큼 민망한 자화자찬이었다.

그러나 당정대가 무엇보다 시급하게 나서야 할 입법은 따로 있다. 국민은 아직도 이해하지 못한다. 왜 대장동 일당에게 7,800억 원에 달하는 범죄수익을 보장해주는 결과를 초래했는지?

'대장동 항소 포기'라는 황당한 사태가 왜 어떻게, 벌어지게 되었는지?.

설명을 요구하는 국민의 목소리를 항명이라 치부하며 형사 고발로 대응하고, 검찰 권한을 옥죄고 3권분립 파괴의 법원조직을 흔들어대는 법안은 고속 입법으로 밀어붙이는 건 명백한 '적반하장'이다. 당정대는 왜 상식과 법치의 편이 아니라 대장동 일당의 편을 노골적으로 들고 나오는 것인가? 이런 상황에서 여야를 가릴 여유도 없다. 국민의힘은 물론이고, 입법만능주의에 빠진 더불어민주당도 이제는 결단해야 한다.

대장동 일당의 범죄수익 환수를 위한 특별법 제정에 당장 나서야 한다. 내란 특별재판부 설치, 법원조직 개정이나 검사징계법보다 수십 배 더 시급하고, 실질적인 민생법안이다. 타인의 공을 가로채며 ‘4천억 론스타 항소’를 자화자찬할 것이 아니라, 지금 이 순간 시가 1조 원을 넘는 대장동 범죄수익 환수를 우선해야 한다.

국민이 분노하는 이유는 명확하다. 정의가 실종되었고, 책임은 외면당했으며, 도둑질한 자들이 떳떳하게 활보하고 재벌이 되어있기 때문이다. 정체되어 있는 항소포기 국정조사 추진에도 탄력이 재활될 수 있을 것이다. 새미래 민주당은 어제 국회 국민동의청원 게시판에 <대장동 불법 범죄수익 환수 특별법> 입법 청원을 공식 게시했다. 이제는 초당적으로 범국민 시민연대로 서명운동과 입법 추진에 나설 때다. 국민 한 사람, 한 사람의 이름으로, 정의를 다시 세우자. 나부터 서명하고, 이웃 친지, 동료들에도 알려 범죄자의 천문학적 불법 수익을 막아내고, 법치와 정의를 바로 세워 나갑시다.

However, there is another piece of legislation that the ruling party and government must urgently address. The public still doesn't understand. Why did they secure 780 billion won in criminal proceeds for the Daejang-dong gang?

How and why did this absurd situation of "Daejang-dong's abandonment of the appeal" come to pass?

Dismissing the public's demand for an explanation as defiance and responding with criminal charges, while also speeding through legislation that would tighten prosecutorial power and disrupt the judicial system, which undermines the separation of powers, is clearly a case of "overstepping the mark." Why are the ruling and opposition parties blatantly siding with the Daejang-dong gang instead of advocating for common sense and the rule of law? In this situation, there is no room for political division. Not only the People Power Party, but even the Democratic Party of Korea, mired in legislative supremacy, must now make a decision.

We must immediately enact a special law to recover the criminal proceeds of the Daejang-dong gang. This is a bill dozens of times more urgent and practical than establishing a special court for internal rebellion, revising the judicial system, or enacting the Prosecutors' Disciplinary Act. Instead of taking credit for others and praising the "400 billion won Lone Star appeal," we must prioritize the recovery of Daejang-dong's criminal proceeds, which are worth over 1 trillion won, right now.

The reasons for the public's anger are clear. Justice has disappeared, accountability has been evaded, and those who thieved are now brazenly walking around and becoming conglomerates. This could also revitalize the stalled parliamentary investigation into the abandonment of appeals. Yesterday, the New Future Democratic Party officially posted a petition for the "Special Act on the Recovery of Illegal Criminal Proceeds from Daejang-dong" on the National Assembly's petition board. Now is the time for a bipartisan, nationwide civic coalition to launch a signature drive and push for legislation. Let's restore justice in the name of each and every citizen. Let's sign first, then spread the word to our neighbors, relatives, and colleagues. Let's stop the astronomical amount of illegal profits made by criminals and establish the rule of law and justice.
