이날 행사에는 화랑여단을 비롯해 3사단 진백골여단 주임원사와 군 장병, 6·25 참전용사, 백골전우회 회원, 보훈단체 관계자, 대구지방보훈청·경북남부보훈지청 관계자, 포항시 관계자 등 80여 명이 참석했다.

행사는 개식사를 시작으로 국민의례, 묵념, 전투 약사 보고, 기념사와 축사, 기념촬영 순으로 진행됐다. 참석자들은 당시 전투에 참여했던 국군 3사단의 사단가를 제창하며 전우들의 희생과 용기를 기렸다.

기계·안강지구 전투는 6·25전쟁 중 수도사단·3사단과 독립기갑연대, 해군육전대, 유격대대, 민간 자위조직과 학도병 등이 참여해 북한군 12사단의 남진을 저지한 주요 전투로 평가된다. 이 전투의 승리는 낙동강 방어선을 사수하고 이후 국군과 유엔군의 본격적인 반격작전 여건을 만든 결정적 분수령이었다.

최광수 화랑여단장(대령)은 기념사에서 “선배 전우들의 용기와 헌신이 지금 우리가 누리는 자유와 평화, 번영의 뿌리”라며 “이 정신을 이어 굳건한 안보태세를 갖추고 조국 수호 임무에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Ceremony Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Gicheon and Angang Areas Held in the Fierce Battlefield of the Korean War

On the morning of the 28th, the Hwarang Brigade of the 50th Division of the ROK Army held a "75th Anniversary of the Battle of Gicheon and Angang Areas Commemoration Ceremony" at the Gicheon and Angang Areas Battle Monument in Gicheon-myeon, Pohang.

This victory was a decisive turning point, securing the Nakdong River defense line and laying the groundwork for a full-scale counteroffensive by the ROK and UN forces.

In his commemorative address, Hwarang Brigade Commander (Colonel) Choi Gwang-su stated, "The courage and dedication of our comrades are the root of the freedom, peace, and prosperity we enjoy today. Carrying on this spirit, we will maintain a robust security posture and dedicate ourselves to the mission of defending our homeland."
