【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 영진전문대학교 사회봉사단이 겨울을 앞두고 지역 내 취약계층을 위해 김장김치를 나누는 봉사활동을 펼쳤다.

사회봉사단은 지난 1일 대불노인복지관에서 재학생과 교직원, 외국인 유학생 등 30여 명이 참여한 가운데 김장김치를 직접 담가 북구 산격동과 복현동에 거주하는 쪽방 주민·독거노인 100가구에 각 5kg씩 전달했다.

이날 김장에 처음 참여한 이희민 학생(사회복지과 2년)은 “김장을 제대로 할 수 있을지 걱정이 됐지만 제가 만든 김치를 드시고 기뻐하실 어르신들을 생각하니 큰 보람을 느꼈다”고 소감을 밝혔다. 

튀르키예 출신의 유학생 프나르 디데(한국어교육센터) 학생도 “김장 봉사를 통해 한국 문화를 더 깊이 이해하게 됐고 한국 사회에 적응하는 데도 큰 도움이 되고 있다”고 말했다.

차보현 사회봉사단장(사회복지과 교수)은 “봉사단은 지속 가능한 지역사회 공헌을 위해 상·하반기 금호강 살리기 환경보호 캠페인, 1회용품 분리수거 캠페인 등을 꾸준히 이어가고 있다”며 “앞으로도 조혈모세포 기증, 헌혈 참여, 복지시설 지원 등 다양한 활동을 통해 지역과 함께 성장하고 어려운 이웃들에게 따뜻한 사랑을 전하겠다”고 전했다.

The Daegu Youngjin College Community Service Group held a volunteer event to share kimchi with vulnerable communities in the area ahead of winter.

On the 1st, the Community Service Group, comprised of approximately 30 students, faculty, and international students, made kimchi at the Daebul Senior Welfare Center and distributed 5kg of kimchi to 100 households of single-family homes and elderly people living alone in Sangyeok-dong and Bokhyeon-dong in Buk-gu.

Lee Hee-min (Sophomore, Department of Social Welfare), who participated in kimchi-making for the first time, said, "I was worried about whether I could make kimchi properly, but I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I imagined the joy of the elderly people enjoying the kimchi I made."

Pnar Dide, a Turkish student at the Korean Language Education Center, added, "The kimchi-making volunteer program has helped me gain a deeper understanding of Korean culture and has been a great help in adapting to Korean society."

Cha Bo-hyeon, head of the volunteer group (professor of social welfare), said, “The volunteer group has been steadily carrying out environmental protection campaigns such as the Geumho River revitalization campaign and the disposable product separation campaign in the first and second half of the year to contribute to the local community sustainably,” and added, “We will continue to grow together with the local community and deliver warm love to our neighbors in need through various activities such as hematopoietic stem cell donation, blood donation participation, and support for welfare facilities.”
