【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청 산하 4개 학교급식 정책 시범선도학교가 모두 우수 연구 성과 기관으로 뽑혔다. 

이들 학교는 교육부장관상과 교육감 표창을 받게 됐다. 2일 경북교육청에 따르면, 이번 결과는 2021년부터 이어져 온 학교급식 선도학교 운영과 연구의 결실로, 경북교육청의 전문성과 실행력이 전국적으로 다시 한번 인정받았다는 평가다.

특히 문경 가은초등학교는 HLM 프로젝트(건강·저탄소·다문화)를 토대로 학생 맞춤형 영양 및 식생활 교육을 체계적으로 실시해 눈길을 끌었다. 

이 학교는 전교생이 참여하는 모내기, 벼베기 등 로컬푸드 체험과 채식의 날, 세계음식의 날 같은 다양한 프로그램을 열어 학생들의 채소 섭취율과 다문화 이해, 환경 인식이 크게 높아진 것으로 나타났다.

포항 초서초등학교 역시 학생들이 직접 참여하는 급식 교육을 이끌었으며, 1·6학년을 대상으로 한 조리 실습과 잔반 없는 날을 운영해 학생 스스로 건강한 식습관을 기를 수 있도록 지도했다.

점촌초등학교는 저탄소 채식 기반의 'E·S·G 녹색성장 프로젝트'를 운영하며, ‘1일 1채소 챌린지’, ‘텀블러 데이’, 채식 신메뉴 개발 등 다채로운 활동을 펼쳤다. 

이 과정에서 학생과 교직원, 학부모가 함께 참여하는 저탄소 실천 문화가 확산됐다. 선산고등학교는 학교폭력 예방과 기후 위기 대응을 결합한 교육급식 행사를 진행했다. 

‘주먹대신 주먹밥’ 캠페인, 전교생 잔반 없는 날, 글로벌 식량 위기 교육 등 다양한 프로그램이 마련돼 학교행사와 급식이 자연스럽게 연결됐고, 학생들의 인식과 참여도 높였다. 시범선도학교는 아니지만, 고령 성산초등학교도 영양교육실 운영 우수사례로 교육감 표창을 받아 의미를 더했다.

임종식 경북교육감은 “시범선도학교 4개교 모두가 우수기관으로 뽑히고, 성산초까지 표창을 받은 것은 경북교육의 저력과 학교 현장의 헌신 덕분”이라며 “학생들이 건강한 식습관 속에서 안전하고 행복하게 자랄 수 있도록, 앞으로도 교육급식을 핵심 교육정책으로 삼아 책임있게 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

All four pilot schools under the Gyeongbuk Office of Education were selected as institutions with outstanding research achievements.

These schools received the Minister of Education Award and the Superintendent of Education Commendation. According to the Gyeongbuk Office of Education on the 2nd, these results are the culmination of the school meal pilot school operation and research that has been ongoing since 2021, and represent another national recognition of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education's expertise and execution capabilities.

Mungyeong Gaeun Elementary School, in particular, drew attention for systematically implementing customized nutrition and dietary education for students based on the HLM Project (Health, Low Carbon, Multicultural).

The school hosted various programs, including student-led local food experiences such as rice planting and rice harvesting, as well as vegetarian days and World Food Day. These programs significantly increased students' vegetable intake, multicultural understanding, and environmental awareness.

Pohang Choseo Elementary School also led student-led meal education. They also implemented cooking classes and a "No Waste Day" program for first and sixth graders, encouraging students to develop healthy eating habits.

Jeomchon Elementary School operates the "E·S·G Green Growth Project," a low-carbon, plant-based program. It has engaged in diverse activities such as the "One Vegetable a Day Challenge," "Tumbler Day," and the development of new vegetarian menus.

Through this process, a culture of low-carbon practices has spread, with students, faculty, and parents participating. Seonsan High School implemented an educational meal program that combined school violence prevention and climate crisis response.

Various programs, including the "Rice Balls Instead of Fists" campaign, a school-wide no-waste day, and global food crisis education, seamlessly connected school events and meal programs, increasing student awareness and participation. Although not a pilot school, Goryeong Seongsan Elementary School also received a Superintendent's Award for excellence in nutrition education, adding to its significance.

Gyeongbuk Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik said, “All four pilot schools were selected as excellent institutions, and even Seongsan Elementary School received an award, thanks to the strength of Gyeongbuk education and the dedication of the schools.” He added, “We will continue to responsibly promote school meals as a core educational policy so that students can grow up safely and happily with healthy eating habits.”
