시는 3일 경주시장애인복지관에서 노후 차량을 특장버스로 교체하는 전달식을 열고, 고향사랑기금이 지역 복지 현장에서 본격적인 성과를 내기 시작했다고 밝혔다.

전달식에는 주낙영 경주시장, 대한불교조계종 불국사 성광 교무스님, 박완규 불국사복지재단 사무처장, 최경희 경주시장애인종합복지관장, 김헌덕 경주시장애인단체협의회장 등이 참석해 기부금이 지역사회에 환원되는 의미를 공유했다.

이번 사업에는 총 2억5,700만 원이 투입됐으며, 이 중 2억5,500만 원이 고향사랑기금에서 지원됐다. 새로 도입된 버스에는 휠체어 리프트 등 보조 이동 장치가 갖춰져 있어 장애인의 승·하차 안전성과 편의성이 크게 개선될 전망이다.

그동안 복지관에서 사용해온 기존 차량은 노후 문제와 잦은 고장으로 교체 요구가 꾸준히 제기돼 왔다. 새 특장버스는 복지관 프로그램 참여 이동지원, 이용자 셔틀 운영 등 다양한 방식으로 활용될 예정이며, 특히 교통 취약계층인 장애인의 이동권 보장에 실질적인 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

최경희 장애인종합복지관장은 “버스 교체는 단순한 차량 지원을 넘어 이용자의 삶에 변화를 줄 수 있는 지원”이라며 감사 인사를 전했다.

주낙영 시장은 “고향사랑기부금이 지역 복지의 의미 있는 출발점이 됐다”며 “시민이 체감할 수 있는 사업으로 기금 운영의 신뢰를 높여가겠다”고 말했다.

시는 이번 사례를 기반으로 고향사랑기부금 사업 분야를 확대해 기부가 곧 지역 주민의 삶의 질 향상으로 연결되는 구조를 정착시킬 계획이다.

A total of 257 million won was invested in this project, of which 255 million won came from the Hometown Love Fund. The existing vehicles used by the welfare center have been aging and frequently malfunctioning, leading to persistent calls for replacement. Choi Kyung-hee, Director of the Comprehensive Welfare Center for Persons with Disabilities, expressed her gratitude, saying, "The bus replacement goes beyond simple vehicle support; it's support that can transform the lives of users."

Mayor Joo Nak-young stated, "The Hometown Love Donation Fund has become a meaningful starting point for local welfare. We will enhance the trust in the fund's operation by providing programs that citizens can experience."

Building on this success, the city plans to expand the scope of the Hometown Love Donation Fund and establish a structure where donations directly lead to improved quality of life for local residents.
