고령군이 내년도 예산에 반영한 핵심 사업은 △세계유산 탐방거점센터 건립 △고도 이미지 찾기 사업 △고도 주민활동 지원사업 등 3개다.

이 가운데 세계유산 탐방거점센터 건립은 고령군이 추진하는 최우선 전략사업이다. 대가야 고도와 유네스코 세계유산 지산동 고분군을 연결하는 방문거점이자 체류형 관광 기반시설로, 총사업비는 285억 원 규모다. 군은 내년 2억 원을 투입해 타당성 조사 및 기본계획 용역을 진행할 예정이다.

‘고도 이미지 찾기 사업’에는 20억 원이 배정됐다. 고도 지정구역 내 가로‧건축‧경관 정비와 보행환경 개선, 옥외광고물 정비 등을 단계적으로 추진해 역사도시로서 통일성과 정체성을 확보한다는 구상이다.

주민이 직접 참여하는 ‘고도 주민활동 지원사업’에는 8천만 원이 확보됐다. 주민단체 활동과 해설·교육 프로그램, 문화행사 등을 지원해 보존과 활용 과정에 주민 참여를 확대한다는 계획이다.

고령군 관계자는 “다섯 번째 국가 고도로 지정된 위상에 걸맞은 보존과 활용 모델을 만들겠다”며 “세계유산 탐방거점센터를 비롯한 사업이 차질 없이 추진될 수 있도록 추가 국비 확보와 행정절차 이행에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

고령군은 이번 국비 확보를 기반으로 고도보존육성 기본계획과 시행계획에 맞춘 중장기 투자 구성을 구체화하고, 국회·국가유산청·경상북도 등과 협력체계를 강화해 향후 추가 재원 확보에 나설 방침이다.
