이번 협약은 지난 8월 7일 개최된 경제장관회의에서 확정된 지방살리기 추진 과제의 후속조치로, 내수 활성화와 지역 활력 회복을 위한 범정부 협력 강화 차원에서 진행됐다.

협약에 따라 울진군과 보건복지부는 다음과 같은 분야에서 상호 협력을 추진한다.

울진군은 중앙부처와의 협력 기반 강화로 지역 농‧수산물 소비 촉진, 방문객 증가, 고향사랑기부 확대 등 지역 경제 전반에 실질적 효과가 나타날 것으로 기대하고 있다.

울진군 관계자는 “보건복지부와의 자매결연은 지방살리기 정책의 실행력을 높이는 의미 있는 성과”라며 “지역특산품 소비 확대, 기부제 활성화, 기관행사 유치 등을 단계적으로 추진해 가시적 경제효과를 창출하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 울진군은 향후 협약 이행 상황을 지속 관리하고, 기관 간 협력사업 발굴과 홍보 프로그램 확대 등을 지속적으로 추진할 계획이다.
