【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청이 5일 교육공무직노동조합 총파업으로 인한 학교급식 공백 상황을 점검하기 위해 경주시 동천초등학교를 긴급 방문했다. 임종식 교육감은 현장에서 직접 간편식을 나눠 주며 학생들을 응원했다.

임 교육감은 이날 급식 조리실과 식당을 둘러본 뒤, 교직원들과 간담회를 열어 현장의 어려움과 건의사항을 청취했다. 그는 파업 속에서도 급식 운영을 이어가는 학교 관계자들에게 감사의 마음을 전했다.

이번 총파업에는 경북 지역 227개 학교에서 급식 종사자 744명이 참여한 것으로 집계됐다. 이 영향으로 192곳의 학교가 급식을 중단했다. 중단 학교 중 177개교는 학생들이 도시락을 가져오거나, 빵과 우유 등 대체식을 제공받고 있다. 나머지 15개교는 학사일정 조정으로 급식을 실시하지 않는다.

경북교육청은 파업에 대비한 매뉴얼을 사전에 마련해 각 학교에 전달했다. 가정통신문 발송, 급식 가능 여부별 대응 지침, 파업 종료 후 위생·안전 점검 강화 방안도 안내했다. 교육청은 급식 공백으로 인한 학생 불편을 최소화하기 위해 노력하고 있다고 밝혔다.

임종식 교육감은 “학교급식은 단순히 한 끼 식사를 넘어서 학생 건강과 교육을 잇는 중요한 서비스”라며 “학생과 학부모의 불편을 줄이고, 파업 이후에도 안전한 급식이 이어질 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 강조했다.
