이번 평가는 전국 226개 기초지자체를 대상으로 지난해 11월 15일부터 올해 3월 15일까지 추진된 겨울철 재난 대책 전반을 대상으로 진행됐다. 울진군은 안전재난과 주도로 실시한 선제적 제설 대응, 재난 취약지역 사전 관리 강화, 주민대피 체계 운영 등이 높은 점수를 받은 것으로 알려졌다.

울진군은 경상북도가 시행한 ‘우리 마을 대표대피소’ 선정 평가에서도 성과를 냈다. 온양1리 마을대피소가 호우 등 자연재난 대비 대표대피소로 선정돼 도비 지원을 받게 된 것이다. 이 대피소는 집중호우·태풍 대비 기간 운영 적정성, 사전 대비체계 구축 등에서 우수한 평가를 받았다.

군은 이번 결과를 바탕으로 대피소 시설 개선과 운영 강화 등 재난 대응 기반을 더욱 공고히 한다는 계획이다.

울진군 관계자는 “이번 수상은 단순한 행정적 성과가 아니라 군민과 함께 만들어낸 안전정책의 결과”라며 “앞으로도 군민의 생명과 재산을 보호하기 위한 예방·대응 시스템을 더욱 체계적으로 강화하겠다”고 말했다.

Uljin County has been recognized for its winter natural disaster response capabilities, being selected as a nationally outstanding local government in the "Natural Disaster Countermeasures (Winter)" category evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Consequently, Uljin County received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety.

This evaluation, conducted between November 15th of last year and March 15th of this year, targeted 226 local governments nationwide and examined their overall winter disaster response efforts. Uljin County reportedly received high scores for its proactive snow removal response led by the Safety and Disaster Division, strengthened preemptive management of disaster-prone areas, and operationalized a resident evacuation system.

Uljin County also achieved success in the "Our Village Representative Shelter" evaluation conducted by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province. The Onyang 1-ri Village Shelter was selected as a representative shelter for natural disasters such as heavy rain, receiving provincial funding. This shelter received excellent evaluations for its adequacy of operation during heavy rain and typhoon preparations and for its established preemptive response system.

Based on these results, the county plans to further solidify its disaster response foundation by improving shelter facilities and strengthening operations.

An Uljin County official stated, "This award is not simply an administrative achievement, but the result of safety policies developed in collaboration with the county residents.
