【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 수성구(구청장 김대권)가 오는 24일부터 내년 1월 4일까지 ‘수성미디어아트페스타(수마프)’를 새롭게 선보인다. 이번 행사는 제7회 수성빛예술제와 연계해 마련됐다.

수성빛예술제는 그동안 주민이 참여하는 대표 겨울 빛 축제로 자리매김해 왔다. 올해 첫선을 보이는 수성미디어아트페스타는 기존 축제를 디지털·미디어아트로 확장하는 프로그램으로, 두 행사를 통해 ‘아트 뮤지엄 빛의 도시’라는 수성구의 문화 비전을 구체화할 계획이다.

올해 페스타의 주 무대는 수성못 일대다. 더불어 대구 전역의 150여 개 전광판과 패널, 국립대구박물관, 서울·광주(ACC)·부산 등 외부 도시에서도 연계 콘텐츠가 전시된다. 이로써 행사는 지역을 넘어선 확장형 축제로 마련된다. 특히 수성못 상화동산과 수상무대에는 미디어아트 작품이 설치되고, 야간 라이트쇼와 레이저 퍼포먼스, 관람객이 직접 참여할 수 있는 인터랙티브 프로그램 등 다양한 체험 공간도 준비된다.

지역 근현대미술, 디지털로 재해석

첫 번째 테마인 ‘빛으로 다시 읽는 대구 문화자원’에서는 대구 근현대미술 작가들의 작품을 프로젝션·상호작용 기술, 사운드 디자인으로 재구성한 미디어아트 작품이 펼쳐진다. 관람객들은 원작의 미학적 요소와 시대적 특징을 현대 기술과 어우러진 새로운 감각으로 경험할 수 있다.

정점식, 이인성, 이명미, 박현기 등 지역을 대표하는 근현대 작가들의 원작은 이달 17일부터 수성못 인근 윤선갤러리에서 미리 선보인다. 원작과 디지털 재해석 작품을 한눈에 비교해 감상할 수 있어, 지역 예술 자원의 확장성과 깊이를 보여준다.

젊은 창작자 무대 확대…창작 생태계 강화

두 번째 테마인 ‘미디어아트로 확장되는 창작 생태계’에서는 지역 미디어아트 작가와 대학생 공모전 수상작이 전시된다. 수성구가 추진 중인 ‘미디어아트 전용 시설 조성사업’과도 연결돼, 지역 예술인·기업·대학이 함께하는 협업 구조와 새 창작 네트워크의 가능성이 제시된다.

심포지엄과 아카이브로 콘텐츠 지속성 확보

축제 기간에는 연계 심포지엄도 열린다. 16일 국립대구박물관에서 ‘대구미술, 기록과 디지털 전환’을 주제로 전문가들이 모여 지역 근현대미술 아카이빙의 필요성과 수성구의 디지털 전환 성과를 공유한다.

이번 페스타에서 제작된 모든 콘텐츠는 체계적으로 아카이브로 남긴다. 향후 타 도시 전시 교류와 신규 미디어아트 시설의 주요 자산으로도 활용할 계획이다. 수성구는 축제가 일회성 이벤트에 그치지 않고, 지역 문화 자산으로 자리잡을 수 있도록 관리 체계도 강화할 방침이다.

김대권 구청장은 “수성미디어아트페스타가 지역 문화자원을 바탕으로 한 한국형 미디어아트 축제의 새로운 모델이 될 것”이라며 “근현대 미술과 현대 기술의 만남, 지역 창작 생태계 활성화를 이끄는 전환점이 되길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

The first theme, "Rereading Daegu's Cultural Resources through Light," will showcase media art pieces that reimagine the works of Daegu's modern and contemporary artists using projection, interactive technology, and sound design. Visitors will be able to experience the aesthetic elements and period characteristics of the original works through a new sensibility, blended with modern technology.

Original works by leading local modern and contemporary artists, including Jeong Jeong-sik, Lee In-seong, Lee Myung-mi, and Park Hyun-ki, will be previewed at the Yunsun Gallery near Suseongmot Lake starting on the 17th of this month. This allows visitors to compare the original works with digital reinterpretations, demonstrating the expansiveness and depth of the region's artistic resources.

Expanding the Stage for Young Creators… Strengthening the Creative Ecosystem

The second theme, "Expanding the Creative Ecosystem through Media Art," will showcase works by local media artists and university student contest winners. This project, which is also linked to Suseong-gu's "Media Art Facility Development Project," presents the potential for a collaborative structure and new creative networks among local artists, businesses, and universities.

Securing Content Sustainability through Symposiums and Archives

A related symposium will also be held during the festival. On the 16th, experts will gather at the Daegu National Museum under the theme "Daegu Art, Documentation and Digital Transformation." They will discuss the need for archiving local modern and contemporary art and share Suseong-gu's digital transformation achievements.

All content produced at this festival will be systematically archived. It will also serve as a key asset for future exhibition exchanges with other cities and new media art facilities. Suseong-gu plans to strengthen its management system to ensure the festival is not just a one-time event but a regional cultural asset.

District Mayor Kim Dae-kwon stated, "The Suseong Media Art Festa will serve as a new model for Korean media art festivals based on local cultural resources.
