구에 따르면 9일 종합사회복지관과 지역아동센터 등 13개 시설에 자전거 22대를 기증했다. 

달서구는 매년 도로변과 공공장소에 방치된 자전거를 수거하고 있으며, 이 중 사용 가능한 자전거를 골라 수리한 뒤 복지 현장에 재배치하는 ‘재생자전거 나눔사업’을 꾸준히 이어가고 있다.

올해도 200대가 넘는 자전거를 수거해, 쓸 만한 자전거를 우선 취약계층 아동‧청소년의 이동 편의와 여가활동 지원에 활용했다. 기증이 끝난 이후 남은 자전거는 동 행정복지센터 직원들의 공무출장용으로 바꿔 사용할 계획이다. 행정 업무에도 친환경 교통수단을 적용해 탄소중립 실천을 확대한다는 방침이다.

달서구 관계자는 “이번 사업은 자원 재활용과 녹색교통 활성화, 일상 속 탄소중립 실천까지 동시에 추진하는 정책”이라며 “버려진 자전거를 지역사회 자원으로 되돌리는 순환 구조를 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

이태훈 달서구청장은 “재생자전거 나눔사업은 자원순환과 나눔, 녹색교통 활성화를 아우르는 의미 있는 정책”이라며 “앞으로도 지속가능한 자원순환 행정을 강화해 그린시티 달서를 만들어나가겠다”고 말했다.
