【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=iM뱅크(은행장 황병우)는 국내 대표 ESG 평가기관인 서스틴베스트가 발표한 ‘2025년 하반기 ESG 종합평가’에서 3년 연속 최고등급인 ‘AA’를 획득했다고 밝혔다.

서스틴베스트는 약 1,300여 개 상장·비상장 기업을 대상으로 환경(E), 사회(S), 지배구조(G) 등 비재무 요소를 종합 평가해 연 2회 등급을 부여하고 있으며, 평가는 AA부터 E까지 7단계로 구분된다.

iM뱅크는 이번 평가에서 환경·사회·지배구조 전 부문에 걸쳐 고르게 높은 점수를 받았다. 특히 사회 부문에서는 사회공헌과 지역사회 활동, 지배구조 부문에서는 주주 권리 보호와 ESG 경영 인프라 구축 성과가 높이 평가됐다.

세부적으로는 금융 사각지대 해소를 위한 찾아가는 이동점포 운영, 디지털 소외계층의 앱 이용 편의성 강화 등 고객 중심 서비스 개선 노력이 좋은 평가를 받았다. 또한 한국형 녹색채권 최초 발행, 한국형 녹색분류체계 심사 시스템 도입, ESG 성과평가(KPI) 운영 등 선도적인 ESG 금융 활동도 인정받았다.

이와 함께 폐전자·전기제품 수거 및 재활용 활성화, 디지털 명함 도입, 전기차 충전 제휴 이벤트, 탄소중립 R&D 업무협약 등 친환경 실천 사업도 평가에 긍정적으로 반영됐다.

지배구조 부문에서는 ESG 최고 의사결정기구인 ESG위원회를 중심으로 전담 조직을 운영하고, ESG업무운영규정을 제정해 거버넌스를 고도화한 점이 주목받았다. 아울러 전 직원이 활용 가능한 경영정보시스템 내 ESG 통합시스템을 구축해 ESG 성과의 투명성을 강화한 점도 높은 평가로 이어졌다.

iM Bank Receives Highest Rating of 'AA' in Sustinvest's ESG Comprehensive Evaluation for Third Consecutive Year

iM Bank (CEO Hwang Byung-woo) announced that it has received the highest rating of 'AA' for the third consecutive year in the "2025 Second Half ESG Comprehensive Evaluation" released by Sustinvest, a leading ESG rating agency in Korea.

Sustinvest assesses approximately 1,300 listed and unlisted companies twice a year based on a comprehensive assessment of non-financial factors such as environment (E), society (S), and governance (G). The evaluation is divided into seven levels, from AA to E.

iM Bank received consistently high scores across all categories in this evaluation: environment, society, and governance. In the social category, iM Bank's social contribution and community activities were highly praised, while in the governance category, its performance in protecting shareholder rights and establishing an ESG management infrastructure was highly praised.

Specifically, iM Bank's efforts to improve customer-centered services, such as operating mobile branches to address financial blind spots and enhancing app accessibility for the digitally disadvantaged, were highly evaluated. The company was also recognized for its pioneering ESG financial activities, including the issuance of Korea's first green bond, the introduction of a Korean-style green classification system, and the operation of an ESG performance evaluation (KPI).

Furthermore, the evaluation positively reflected its eco-friendly initiatives, including the promotion of collection and recycling of waste electronics and electrical products, the introduction of digital business cards, a joint EV charging event, and a carbon-neutral R&D business agreement.

In the governance structure category, noteworthy improvements were made to governance, including the establishment of a dedicated organization centered around the ESG Committee, the highest ESG decision-making body, and the establishment of ESG business operation regulations. Furthermore, the establishment of an integrated ESG system within the management information system accessible to all employees, enhancing the transparency of ESG performance, also contributed to the high rating.
