고령군은 지역특화재생사업인 ‘세계유산도시 고령 속 「작은 대가야를 만나다」’가 국토교통부가 주관한 ‘2025년 하반기 도시재생 공모사업(지역특화재생)’에 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
이번 선정으로 고령군은 총사업비 250억 원을 확보했으며, 이 가운데 국비 150억 원, 도비 25억 원, 군비 75억 원이 투입된다. 사업 대상지는 대가야읍 연조리·지산리 일원으로, 사업 기간은 2026년부터 2029년까지 4년간이다.
해당 사업은 세계유산도시와 대가야를 핵심 주제로 지역의 역사·문화자원을 활용한 도시 브랜드화를 통해 침체된 지역에 활력을 불어넣고, 지역경제와 관광 활성화를 도모하는 데 목적이 있다.
특히 이번 사업에서는 국내 최고 수준의 교육 콘텐츠를 보유한 EBS와 협력해 역사 체험시설을 조성하고, 특화거리 조성 및 세계유산마을 정비 등을 추진한다. 이를 통해 지역 고유자원과 문화·관광·산업을 연계한 도시재생사업을 본격화할 계획이다.
고령군 관계자는 “가야고분군 세계유산 등재와 대가야 고도 지정으로 주목받고 있는 역사문화도시 고령군이 이번 지역특화재생사업 선정을 통해 새로운 도약의 기회를 맞이했다”며 “성공적인 도시재생사업 추진을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
