【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 북구가 화물자동차 야간 불법주차 문제 해소와 지역 물류 경쟁력 강화를 위한 대규모 공영차고지 운영에 들어간다.

북구청은 지난 29일 태전동 43번지 일원에서 ‘태전화물자동차 공영차고지 준공식’을 열고 본격적인 운영 준비에 착수했다고 밝혔다. 이번 사업에는 국비와 시비, 구비를 포함해 총 440억 원이 투입됐다.

태전화물자동차 공영차고지는 대지면적 3만3천286㎡ 규모로 조성됐다. 야외 주차장에는 화물자동차 249대를 수용할 수 있으며, 주차동에는 1.4톤 미만 차량과 승용차 등 230대를 주차할 수 있다. 시설은 야외 주차장을 비롯해 주차동, 관리동과 각종 부대시설로 구성됐다.

사업은 2018년 8월 기본계획 수립 이후 도시계획시설 결정과 중앙토지수용위원회 공익성 심의, 건설기술심의, 경제성 검토 등 행정 절차를 거쳐 추진됐다. 2024년 3월 착공해 약 21개월간의 공사 끝에 준공됐다.

북구는 장기간 지역 현안으로 지적돼 온 화물차 야간 불법주차 문제를 해소하고, 도심 교통 안전을 확보하기 위해 공영차고지 조성을 추진해 왔다. 단순한 주차 공간을 넘어 운수종사자의 근무 여건을 개선하고, 주민 교통 불편을 줄이기 위한 생활밀착형 인프라로 설계된 점이 특징이다.

북구는 준공 이후 관리 체계와 주차 요금, 복지시설 운영 방안 등 세부 운영계획을 마련해 순차적으로 시행할 계획이다. 운영 과정에서 불법주차 감소 효과와 주민 체감도를 지속적으로 점검해 필요할 경우 보완책도 검토할 방침이다.
