경상북도체육회는 지난 12월 22일 안동 스탠포드호텔에서 열린 이사회 심의 결과, 참석 이사 50명 중 30여 명의 찬성을 얻어 봉화·영주 공동 개최를 최종 결정했다. 이는 지난 6월 공동개최 유치 신청서를 제출한 이후 두 지자체가 전개해 온 적극적인 유치 활동의 결실이다.
