【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 중구가 청년들의 지역 정착을 돕는 정책 성과를 인정받아 대구시 기관 표창을 수상했다. 

중구는 주거, 일자리, 건강, 문화 등 청년 맞춤형 정책을 선제적으로 펼쳤다는 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

중구청에 따르면, ‘2025년 청년정책 활성화 유공’ 분야에서 대구광역시 기관 표창을 수상했다. 이번 표창은 대구시가 청년정책 전담 부서를 신설한 뒤, 우수한 성과를 거둔 기초자치단체를 선정해 수여하는 상이다.

중구는 청년들의 주거 부담을 덜기 위한 다양한 정책을 연달아 도입했다. 청년 사업자 임대료 지원뿐만 아니라, 지역 지자체 중 처음으로 청년 부동산 중개보수 및 이사비 지원을 시행해 실제로 청년들이 지역에 정착할 수 있는 여건을 마련했다는 평가다.

청년 친화 도시 기반 조성도 활발히 이뤄졌다. 행정안전부 주관 ‘청년마을 만들기’ 공모사업에 선정돼 청년 활동 거점을 만든 데 이어, 청년지원센터 ‘잇플’을 개소해 청년 소통과 교류의 중심 역할을 하도록 했다. 이와 함께 ‘중구 청년의 날’, 청년 팝업 클래스 등 다양한 맞춤형 문화행사도 꾸준히 운영해 왔다.

일자리 및 창업 지원 부문도 주요 성과로 꼽힌다. 2030 청년창업지원센터와 북성로 청년창업클러스터를 중심으로 청년 창업 및 취업 연계를 도왔으며, 중구보건소와 대구행복기숙사가 함께하는 ‘청춘 심쿵 프로젝트’를 통해 청년 건강 증진에도 힘을 쏟았다.

이 같은 정책들은 주거와 생활비 부담을 덜고, 일자리와 문화, 보건까지 아우르는 종합적 접근을 보였다는 점에서 의미가 크다는 평가다. 단기적 지원에 머무르지 않고, 청년 인구 유출을 막아 지역 정주 여건을 개선하는 데 집중한 점이 이번 수상으로 이어졌다는 분석이다.

류규하 중구청장은 “최근 중구는 인구 10만 명을 다시 회복했고, 청년 인구 비율도 타 지역에 비해 높은 편”이라며 “청년들이 삶의 질을 높이고 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 앞으로도 다양한 정책을 꾸준히 추진하겠다”고 말했다.

Daegu's Jung-gu District received a Daegu City Institutional Award in recognition of its policy achievements in helping young people settle into the region.

Jung-gu received high praise for proactively implementing youth-focused policies in areas such as housing, jobs, health, and culture.

According to the Jung-gu Office, the district received a Daegu Metropolitan City Institutional Award in the "2025 Youth Policy Activation" category. This award recognizes local governments that have achieved outstanding results since the city established a dedicated youth policy department.

Jung-gu has implemented a series of policies to ease the housing burden on young people. In addition to rent support for young business owners, it was the first local government in the region to offer real estate brokerage fees and moving expenses support for young people, effectively creating an environment conducive to their settlement.

Active efforts have also been made to build a youth-friendly urban infrastructure. Following its selection for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's "Youth Village Creation" contest, the district established a hub for youth activities. Employment and entrepreneurship support are also key achievements. Furthermore, the district has focused on promoting youth health through the "Youth Heartthrob Project," a partnership between the Jung-gu Public Health Center and Daegu Happy Dormitory.

These policies are significant in that they alleviate the burden of housing and living expenses and demonstrate a comprehensive approach encompassing jobs, culture, and health. The district's focus on improving local living conditions by preventing youth population exodus, rather than focusing solely on short-term support, is believed to have led to this award.

Jung-gu District Mayor Ryu Gyu-ha said, “Jung-gu recently recovered its population of 100,000, and the proportion of young people is also higher than other regions,” and added, “We will continue to pursue various policies to help young people improve their quality of life and settle down stably.”
