이날 행사에는 이강덕 포항시장을 비롯해 최영숙 환동해본부장, 김일만 포항시의회 의장, 김정재·이상휘 국회의원, 최나영 지청장, 전익현 철강공단 이사장, 박남식 제철소장 등 지역 주요 기관·단체장과 도·시의원, 상공의원, 기업체 대표 등 500여 명이 참석해 새해의 시작을 함께했다.

나주영 회장은 신년사를 통해 “올해 세계경제는 완만한 회복세가 예상되지만, 우리나라 경제는 내수 부진과 보호무역 강화, 환율 변동성 등으로 빠른 회복을 기대하기 어려운 상황”이라며 “노동 문제와 각종 규제 강화로 기업 경영환경은 더욱 어려워질 것”이라고 전망했다. 이어 “이럴 때일수록 기업의 변화와 도전을 뒷받침하는 현실적인 정책과 지역사회의 협력이 무엇보다 중요한 한 해가 될 것”이라고 강조했다.

나 회장은 또 “글로벌 AI 데이터센터 건립을 시작으로 AI 관련 인프라 확충, K-스틸법을 기반으로 한 철강산업 경쟁력 강화, 해오름대교 개통, 포엑스 건립, 아·태 AI센터 및 국제학교 유치 등은 새로운 인재 유입을 통해 미래산업과 철강산업이 공존하는 지속 가능한 포항 조성을 앞당길 것으로 기대한다”며 포항의 미래 비전에 대한 희망의 메시지를 전했다.

아울러 “어려운 시기일수록 서로를 믿고 함께 가는 힘이 중요하다”며 “그 힘이 올해 포항을 더욱 힘차게 움직이는 에너지가 될 것”이라고 밝혔다. 그는 “포항상공회의소는 급변하는 경제 환경 속에서 기업들이 변화의 과정을 두려워하지 않도록 경쟁력 강화와 투자 활성화, 지역 산업의 지속 가능한 성장을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”며 “포항이 다시 힘을 내고 기업과 지역이 함께 성장하는 한 해가 될 수 있도록 모두의 지혜와 역량을 모아달라”고 당부했다.

The Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Na Ju-young) held its "2026 New Year's Greetings" at 10:00 AM on January 5th at the Hyoja Art Hall.

In his New Year's address, Chairman Na Ju-young stated, "While the global economy is expected to show a moderate recovery this year, a rapid recovery is unlikely for the Korean economy due to sluggish domestic demand, increasing protectionism, and exchange rate volatility." He added, "The business environment will become even more challenging due to labor issues and strengthened regulations." He emphasized, "In times like these, realistic policies that support corporate change and challenges, as well as cooperation with the local community, will be more crucial than ever."

Chairman Na also delivered a message of hope for Pohang's future vision, stating, "Starting with the construction of the Global AI Data Center, expanding AI-related infrastructure, strengthening the competitiveness of the steel industry based on the K-Steel Act, opening the Haeoreum Bridge, establishing Poex, and attracting the Asia-Pacific AI Center and international schools, we expect that this initiative will foster the influx of new talent and accelerate the creation of a sustainable Pohang where future industries and the steel industry coexist."

He also stated, "Especially in challenging times, the power of mutual trust and cooperation is crucial. This strength will fuel Pohang's momentum this year." He said, “In this rapidly changing economic environment, the Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry will do its best to strengthen competitiveness, stimulate investment, and ensure the sustainable growth of local industries so that companies do not fear the process of change.” He also asked, “Please pool your wisdom and capabilities so that Pohang can regain its strength and make this a year in which companies and the region grow together.”
