울릉군은 지난 8일 경북도청 화백당에서 열린 제3회 경상북도 지방정부 협력회의에서 울릉도·독도 주민의 교통권 보장을 위한 ‘해상교통 공영제 조속 도입 촉구 건의서’에 대해 이철우 경북도지사와 도내 전 시장·군수가 공동 서명했다고 9일 밝혔다.

건의서에는 도서지역 주민의 교통권을 국가가 책임지도록 하는 관련 법률안이 최근 국회에서 발의·논의되고 있다는 점을 언급하며, 울릉도·독도 해상교통 문제가 이미 국가 정책 차원으로 전환되고 있음을 강조했다.
