동구청에 따르면 팔공산 일대에서 재배된 미나리는 이날부터 출하와 판매가 이뤄지고 있다. 팔공산 미나리는 해발 200m가 넘는 청정 지역에서 150m 깊이 암반지하수를 활용해 키운다.
농약을 쓰지 않고 친환경 방식으로 재배돼 아삭한 식감과 진한 향이 돋보인다는 평가다. 봄철 건강식재료로 인기를 끄는 미나리인 만큼, 봄을 앞두고 출하 시기를 맞췄다.
동구는 팔공산 미나리를 지역 대표 농산물로 키우기 위해 2013년 지리적 표시 단체표장 등록을 마쳤다. 이후 꾸준히 포장재와 친환경 자재를 지원하며 미나리를 농가 소득 작목으로 육성하고 있다. 재배 여건 개선과 브랜드 관리가 뒷받침되면서 소비자 신뢰도 역시 매년 높아지는 추세다.
미나리는 농가 직거래와 택배 주문은 물론, 공산농협과 대경사과원예농협 하나로마트, 로컬푸드 직매장인 대구장터 검사동점 등지에서 구매할 수 있다. 동구청은 오는 2월 말 열린마당 등에서 직거래 행사도 진행할 예정이다.
윤석준 동구청장은 “지역의 미나리 재배 농가를 위해 다양한 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”며 “시민들도 팔공산 미나리에 많은 관심을 가져주길 바란다”고 당부했다.

Water parsley can be purchased directly from farmers, through delivery orders, or at Gongsan Agricultural Cooperative, Daegyeong Apple Horticultural Cooperative Hanaro Mart, and the Daegu Market Geomsa-dong branch, a local food direct sales outlet. Dong-gu Office plans to hold a direct sales event at its Open Plaza in late February.
Dong-gu Mayor Yoon Seok-jun stated, "We will spare no effort in providing diverse support to local water parsley farmers. We hope citizens will also take an interest in Palgongsan water parsley."
