포항해양경찰서(서장 이근안)는 연안해역 안전사고 위험예보가 기상 상황과 연안 사고 발생 가능성을 종합적으로 분석해 ▲관심 ▲주의보 ▲경보 등 3단계로 위험 수준을 알리는 제도라고 밝혔다. 이 가운데 주의보 단계는 안전사고 발생 가능성이 높은 상황으로, 연안 활동 시 각별한 주의가 요구된다.

기상청 예보에 따르면 10일 새벽부터 경북남부앞바다에는 순간풍속 초속 8~16m 이상의 강한 바람과 함께 1.0~3.0m의 높은 물결이 일 것으로 전망돼 해양 사고 발생 위험이 커질 것으로 보인다.

이에 포항해경은 위험예보 발령 기간 동안 갯바위와 방파제, 해안가 출입을 자제하고, 구명조끼 등 안전장비를 반드시 착용할 것을 당부했다. 또 음주 후 연안 활동을 삼가고, 기상특보와 현장 통제 안내를 철저히 준수해 달라고 강조했다.

포항해경은 사고 위험이 높은 항·포구를 중심으로 선박 안전 상태를 점검하는 한편, 파출소 전광판과 지자체 재난안전문자 등을 활용해 연안 안전사고 예방을 위한 홍보활동을 강화할 계획이다.
