【브레이크뉴스 울진】이우근 기자=울진군은 지난해 12월 17일 금강송에코리움의 효율적인 운영을 위해 민간위탁 관리·운영 업체로 지역 산림복지 전문기업인 농업회사법인 ㈜공간휴담을 최종 선정하고 이를 공고했다고 밝혔다.

현재 금강송에코리움은 2026년 1월 기준 운영 준비 단계에 있으며, 울진을 대표하는 ‘금강소나무’를 테마로 한 치유·체험·힐링 중심의 웰니스 프로그램과 숙박, 치유 식단을 새롭게 구성해 오는 2월 초부터 본격 운영에 들어갈 예정이다.

민간위탁 운영사로 선정된 ㈜공간휴담은 2025년 7월 세계중요농업유산으로 등재된 울진 금강소나무숲길(산림청 국가숲길 1호)에서 2022년부터 산림교육(숲해설) 운영사업을 수행해 왔으며, 산림·해양·온천 등 울진 지역 관광자원을 활용한 웰니스 치유관광 프로그램 개발·운영 경험을 보유한 전문 기업이다. 군은 이러한 노하우를 바탕으로 금강송에코리움의 치유 프로그램이 한층 전문화될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

㈜공간휴담은 금강송에코리움 치유센터를 일상에서 벗어나 고요한 자연 속에서 휴식과 재충전을 제공하는 공간으로 조성하기 위해 ‘숲·숨 리트릿(Retreat) 스테이’ 치유 프로그램을 운영한다. 프로그램은 당일형과 1박 2일, 2박 3일 과정으로 구성된다.

주요 프로그램으로는 차크라 싱잉볼과 소도구를 활용한 회복 요가를 체험하는 ‘이완테라피’, 자연 속에서 해먹 테라피와 명상을 즐기는 ‘숲길테라피’, 솔향 스프레이 제작 체험인 ‘아로마테라피’ 등이 있으며, 계절에 따라 운영될 예정이다.

이와 함께 심화 요가 프로그램과 마사지 오일·개인 맞춤 향수 제작, 계절별 특별 프로그램 등을 추가로 선보여 금강송에코리움을 산림복지와 생태관광이 결합된 복합문화공간으로 재탄생시킨다는 구상이다.

㈜공간휴담은 전문적인 운영 역량과 지속 가능한 사업 모델을 바탕으로 금강송에코리움을 울진을 대표하는 체류형 웰니스 치유관광 핵심 거점이자 명소로 육성하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다.

한편 금강송에코리움 조성사업은 2011년 문화체육관광부 3대 문화권 사업에 선정돼 총사업비 421억 원이 투입됐으며, 금강송테마전시관과 금강송치유센터, 숙박동 등을 갖춘 동해안권 산림·온천·해양 복합 휴양 거점으로 조성됐다. 울진군은 이를 통해 수도권을 비롯한 전국 관광객 유입과 지역경제 활성화를 기대하고 있다.

울진군 관계자는 “동해선 철도 개통과 국도 36호선 직선화, 울진 금강송 산지농업시스템의 세계농업유산 등재 등 지역 여건 개선과 함께 왕피천 일대의 청정 자연생태와 문화관광자원을 연계해 지역 관광 활성화를 도모하겠다”며 “이를 통해 지역 주민 고용 창출과 지속 가능한 지역 발전의 기반을 마련할 것”이라고 말했다.

Uljin County Selects Space Hudam Co., Ltd. as Private Management Company for Geumgangsong Ecorium

Space Hudam Co., Ltd., selected as the private operator, has been operating forest education (forest interpretation) since 2022 on the Uljin Geumgang Pine Forest Trail (National Forest Trail No. 1, designated by the Korea Forest Service as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System in July 2025). The company possesses extensive experience developing and operating wellness and healing tourism programs utilizing Uljin's tourism resources, including forests, oceans, and hot springs. The county expects this expertise to further specialize Geumgangsong Ecorium's healing programs.

Space Hudam Co., Ltd. will operate the "Forest Breath Retreat Stay" program, transforming the Geumgangsong Ecorium Healing Center into a space offering relaxation and rejuvenation in the tranquility of nature, away from the daily grind. The program offers day-trips, two-day/one-night stays, and three-day/two-night stays.

Key programs include "Relaxation Therapy," where participants experience restorative yoga using chakra singing bowls and props; "Forest Path Therapy," where participants enjoy hammock therapy and meditation in nature; and "Aromatherapy," where participants can create pine-scented sprays. These programs will operate seasonally.

Additionally, the plan is to introduce advanced yoga programs, massage oil and personalized perfume production, and seasonal special programs, transforming Geumgangsong Ecorium into a multi-cultural space that combines forest welfare and ecotourism.

Space Hudam Co., Ltd. aims to develop Geumgangsong Ecorium into a key destination and landmark for residential wellness and healing tourism in Uljin, leveraging its professional operational capabilities and sustainable business model.

Meanwhile, the Geumgangsong Ecorium project, selected as one of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's three major cultural district projects in 2011, invested a total of 42.1 billion won. It will be a complex resort hub combining forests, hot springs, and marine life on the East Coast, featuring a Geumgangsong Theme Exhibition Hall, a Geumgangsong Healing Center, and accommodations. Uljin County expects this to attract tourists from the Seoul metropolitan area and nationwide, thereby revitalizing the local economy.

An Uljin County official stated, "Along with improvements to local conditions, such as the opening of the Donghae Line railway, the straightening of National Route 36, and the designation of Uljin's Geumgangsong Mountain Agriculture System as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System, we will link the pristine natural ecosystem and cultural tourism resources of the Wangpicheon Stream area to revitalize local tourism. This will create jobs for local residents and lay the foundation for sustainable regional development."
