【브레이크뉴스 영천】이성현 기자=영남대학교(총장 최외출)는 박삼국 교수가 지난 2월 1일자로 제18대 영남대학교 영천병원장에 임명됐다고 밝혔다. 영남대는 이번 인선을 계기로 의료서비스 혁신과 지역 의료 역량 강화를 위한 체계를 한층 고도화해 나갈 계획이다.

신임 박삼국 병원장은 1995년 영남대학교 의과대학을 졸업하고 동 대학에서 정형외과 전문의 과정을 수료했으며, 2004년 박사학위를 취득했다. 이후 2011년부터 5년간 경산 중앙병원 병원장을 역임했고, 2016년 영남대학교 의과대학 정형외과 교수로 부임한 뒤 영남대학교의료원 부원장과 사무처장을 맡으며 의료기관 운영 전반에 대한 풍부한 경험을 쌓아왔다.

박 병원장은 취임 소감을 통해 “영천지역 유일의 종합병원이자 지역응급의료기관으로서 영천병원의 역할을 더욱 강화하겠다”며 “의료서비스 질 향상과 이용 편의성 개선을 위해 지역 내 기관·단체와 긴밀히 협력해 영천 시민에게 신뢰받는 대표 병원으로 도약하겠다”고 밝혔다.

행사는 최외출 총장의 축사를 시작으로 박삼국 신임 병원장의 취임사, 김용대 의료원장의 축사, 최기문 영천시장의 축전(영천시보건소장 대독), 기념촬영 순으로 진행됐으며, 제17대 이원재 병원장에게는 공로패와 꽃다발이 전달됐다.

특히 그동안 병원장 취임식에 외부 주요 인사 참석이 제한적이었던 것과 달리, 이번 행사에는 대학 본부와 의료원, 지역 보건당국 관계자들이 대거 참석해 영천병원에 대한 전략적 투자와 지원 확대가 본격화될 것이라는 기대감을 높였다.

한편 영남대학교 영천병원은 영천지역 유일의 종합병원이자 지역응급의료기관으로서 필수의료 제공과 응급의료 체계 유지에 핵심적인 역할을 수행하고 있다. 최근에는 장애인·임산부·국가유공자 우선 주차 공간 확충 등 환자 중심의 시설 개선을 추진하며 지역 주민을 위한 의료 환경 개선에도 힘쓰고 있다.

박삼국 병원장의 취임과 대학 본부 및 의료원의 적극적인 지원을 계기로 의료 인프라 확충과 진료 역량 강화, 지역 보건 협력체계 구축 등 영천지역 의료 핵심 거점 병원으로서의 역할이 더욱 확대될 것으로 기대된다.

The event was attended by Yeungnam University President Choi Oe-chul, Vice President for Educational Innovation Lee Byung-joon, Vice President for Industry-Academic Cooperation Kim Sam-soo, Vice President for Medical Affairs and President of Yeungnam University Medical Center Kim Yong-dae, Director of Planning and Coordination Lee Hee-yong, Chief of Staff and Director of External Cooperation Yoon Jeong-hyeon, and Director of the Yeongcheon City Health Center Park Seon-hee. Key figures from the university and the local community attended the event, demonstrating their keen interest in Yeongcheon Hospital's revitalization.

The ceremony began with a congratulatory address by President Choi Oe-chul, followed by an inaugural address by the new hospital director, Park Sam-guk, a congratulatory address by Medical Center Director Kim Yong-dae, a congratulatory message from Yeongcheon Mayor Choi Ki-moon (read by the Yeongcheon City Public Health Center Director), and a commemorative photo session. A plaque of recognition and a bouquet of flowers were presented to the 17th president, Lee Won-jae.

Unlike previous hospital inaugurations, where attendance at key external figures was limited, this year's ceremony was attended by a large number of officials from the university headquarters, the medical center, and local health authorities, raising expectations that strategic investment and expanded support for Yeongcheon Hospital will begin in earnest.

Meanwhile, Yeungnam University Yeongcheon Hospital, the only general hospital in the Yeongcheon region and a regional emergency medical institution, plays a key role in providing essential medical care and maintaining the emergency medical system. Recently, the hospital has been pursuing patient-centered facility improvements, such as expanding parking spaces for people with disabilities, pregnant women, and veterans, and is striving to improve the medical environment for local residents.

With the inauguration of Director Park Sam-guk and the active support of the university headquarters and medical center, the hospital's role as a key medical hub in the Yeongcheon region is expected to expand further, including by expanding medical infrastructure, strengthening treatment capabilities, and establishing a regional health cooperation system.
