이들은 1일 성명을 내고 현재 국회 법제사법위원회에 계류 중인 대구·경북 행정통합 특별법과 관련해 “더 이상 지연되어서는 안 된다”며 법사위의 즉각적인 개최와 본회의 상정을 요구했다.

또한 지역 국회의원들과 국민의힘 지도부, 대구시의회, 경북도의회가 한목소리로 특별법 통과를 촉구하고 있다며 “더 이상 법사위 개최를 미룰 이유도, 명분도 없다”고 밝혔다. 이어 법사위 회의가 지연되고 있는 데 대해 “단순한 절차상의 문제인지, 특정 지역 통합만을 우선하기 위한 것인지 묻지 않을 수 없다”며 “국가적 과제를 지연시키는 것은 책임 있는 국회의 모습이라 보기 어렵다”고 비판했다.
