【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=인공지능 시대 예술과 디자인 창작 방식의 변화를 돌아보는 기획전 ‘Popomo in AI’가 3월 9일부터 4월 18일까지 대구 달서구 킹콩갤러리에서 열린다.

‘Popomo in AI’는 대구 남구문화원이 주최하는 연구형 전시로, AI 확산 속에서 창작의 ‘독창성’이 어떤 변화를 맞고 있는지 집중 조명한다. 이번 전시에서는 ‘AI 시대의 독창성 탐구 — Generalized Specialist vs. Specialized Generalist’를 주제로, 전문가와 일반 창작자가 AI를 활용할 때 어떤 차이가 생기는지 비교·분석할 계획이다.

전시는 총 40일 동안 세 부분으로 나눠 진행된다. 먼저 1부(3월 9일~21일)에서는 ‘AI 창작성의 도전과 새로운 정의’를 주제로, AI 기반 창작 실험의 가능성과 창작성 개념의 변화상을 소개한다. 이어 2부(3월 23일~4월 3일)에선 ‘AI, 경계를 잃은 생성의 바다’라는 주제로 생성형 모델이 확장하는 미학적 영역과 비언어적 생성의 여파를 들여다본다. 마지막 3부(4월 6일~18일)는 ‘D-culture 미디어아트 Hommage’로, 디지털 문화와 미디어아트의 흐름을 재해석한 융복합 작품들이 관람객을 만난다.

참여 작가진도 눈길을 끈다. 이규백 울산대 디자인융합대학 교수를 비롯해 윤재운·박종삼 교수, 이종택 AI 크리에이티브 연구원 등 다양한 분야의 전문가가 함께한다. AI 크리에이터 김수일·한유정, 그리고 이재녕 남구문화원장도 참여해 직접 AI 도구로 제작한 실험작과 연구 성과를 선보인다.

전시 기간 중에는 부대 행사도 마련된다. 수의사 출신으로 유명한 DJ 임대진 원장이 현장 DJ 공연을 펼칠 예정이다.

주최 측은 “AI 도구가 창작의 조건을 어떻게 바꿔놓고 있는지, 또 인간과 AI가 함께 만들어내는 미학적·사회적 의미에 대해 시민들과 함께 고민하고자 한다”고 전했다.

전시는 무료로 진행되며, 시민 누구나 관람할 수 있다. 예술·디자인 전공자와 교육자, 미디어 연구자 등 다양한 관객의 참여가 기대된다.

The final part, Part 3 (April 6-18), will feature "D-culture Media Art Hommage," featuring interdisciplinary works that reinterpret the trends of digital culture and media art.

The participating artists are also noteworthy. Experts from various fields will participate, including Professor Lee Gyu-baek of the University of Ulsan's College of Design Convergence, Professors Yoon Jae-woon and Park Jong-sam, and AI Creative Researcher Lee Jong-taek. AI creators Kim Soo-il and Han Yu-jeong, and Director Lee Jae-nyeong of the Namgu Cultural Center, will also participate, showcasing experimental works and research findings created using AI tools.

Side events will also be held during the exhibition. Renowned DJ Lim Dae-jin, a former veterinarian, will perform live.

The organizers stated, "We hope to engage citizens in contemplating how AI tools are transforming the conditions of creation and the aesthetic and social implications of the collaboration between humans and AI."

The exhibition is free and open to the public. A diverse audience, including art and design professionals, educators, and media researchers, is expected to participate.
