대구경북경제자유구역청(DGFEZ)은 지난 4월 28일 주한캐나다상공회의소 멜라니 오 실장을 초청해 투자유치 IR(기업설명회)을 개최하고, 양 기관 간 협력 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.

이번 IR은 단순한 투자 설명을 넘어 실질적인 협력 체계 구축을 목표로 진행됐다. 양 기관은 투자정보 공유, 인적 네트워크 확대, 공동 행사 추진 등 다각적인 협력 기반을 마련하기로 뜻을 모았다.

특히 DGFEZ는 오는 10월 개최 예정인 ‘FIX 2026’과 연계해 주한 외국 경제단체를 대상으로 투자유치 설명회를 추진할 계획이며, 주한캐나다상공회의소도 이에 적극 협력하기로 했다.

캐나다는 2024년 기준 누적 투자 신고액 135억 달러를 기록하며 한국의 주요 투자국 중 하나로, 미래 모빌리티, 인공지능 기반 제조·서비스, 청정에너지, 콘텐츠 산업 등 다양한 분야에서 활발한 투자 활동을 이어가고 있다. 이는 DGFEZ가 중점적으로 유치하고 있는 전략 산업과도 맞닿아 있다.

강상기 직무대행은 “최근 중동과 유럽 지역의 지정학적 불안으로 해외 투자유치 활동이 제한되는 상황에서 국내 기반 외국상공회의소와의 협력이 더욱 중요해지고 있다”며 “다양한 투자 네트워크와의 연계를 통해 투자유치 기반을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
