포항시는 5일 만인당 잔디광장 일원에서 개최된 ‘2026 포항 어린이날 큰잔치’가 어린이와 가족 등 약 5000명이 찾은 가운데 성황리에 끝났다고 밝혔다. 이번 행사는 포항시가 주최하고 경북매일신문사가 주관했으며, 제104회 어린이날을 기념해 ‘PLAY & GROW’를 주제로 진행됐다.
행사는 기념식과 가족 참여 프로그램이 열린 ‘패밀리 스테이지’, 연령별 놀이시설을 갖춘 ‘플레이 존’, 안전 체험 중심의 ‘세이프티 존’ 등으로 구성됐다. 특히 영아부터 초등학생까지 참여할 수 있도록 동선을 설계하고 체험 위주 프로그램을 배치해 다양한 연령층의 호응을 얻었다.
패밀리 스테이지에서는 아동권리헌장 낭독과 모범 어린이 시상식이 진행됐으며, 가족 보드게임 대회와 어린이 장기자랑 프로그램이 이어졌다. 플레이 존에는 연령대별 맞춤형 놀이시설이 설치돼 어린이들이 신체활동을 즐길 수 있도록 했다.
세이프티 존에서는 해병대·경찰·소방·해양경찰과 연계한 체험 프로그램이 운영돼 어린이들의 안전 의식을 높이는 데 초점을 맞췄다. 이 밖에도 만들기 체험 부스와 푸드트럭 등이 운영돼 축제의 다양성을 더했다.
장상길 포항시장 권한대행 부시장은 “아이들이 마음껏 웃고 즐길 수 있는 환경을 만들기 위해 행사를 준비했다”며 “어린이들이 행복하게 성장할 수 있는 도시 조성에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
