【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청이 교육부 주관 ‘2026년 마이스터고 재도약 지원사업’에 포항제철공업고등학교가 선정되면서, 지역 산업과 연계한 인재 양성에 한층 속도를 낼 전망이다.

경북교육청은 6일, 포항제철공업고가 이번 사업에 최종 선정돼 국비 5억 원을 확보했다고 밝혔다. 마이스터고 재도약 지원사업은 변화하는 산업 환경에 맞춰 마이스터고 교육체계를 한 단계 더 발전시키고, AI와 SW 등 신산업 중심 교육으로의 전환을 지원하기 위해 추진되는 중등 직업교육 혁신 정책이다.

포항제철공업고는 사업 선정에 따라 기존 학과를 △AI철강소재과 △스마트설비기계과 △전지전자로봇과로 새롭게 개편한다. 또 데이터 기반 의사결정과 자동화 시스템 제어 역량을 갖춘 ‘글로벌 i-steel 영마이스터’ 양성을 목표로 교육 전반에 변화를 줄 예정이다.

특히 포스코와 에코프로 등 지역을 대표하는 앵커기업과 연계한 산학협력 모델이 이번 사업의 핵심이다. 학교와 기업이 함께 만드는 ‘DX 트랙’과 ‘1교사 1기업 전담제’를 통해 학생들에게 현장 맞춤형 교육을 제공하고, 취업과의 연계성도 높인다.

교육 혁신은 교육과정, 산학협력, 교원 역량, 학생 지원, 시설·기자재 등 5개 분야에서 다양한 방식으로 추진된다. 실습 위주의 ‘리얼랩’ 구축과 산업 현장 연계 프로젝트 확대도 함께 진행된다.

류시경 경북교육청 창의인재과장은 “이번 선정은 경북 직업교육이 AI와 디지털 기반 미래 산업으로 나아가는 전환점”이라며 “학생들이 첨단 기술 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원을 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

이번 사업을 통해 지역 산업의 인재 수요에 맞춘 전문 인력 공급이 한층 탄탄해질 것으로 보인다. 아울러 고졸 취업 경쟁력은 물론, 청년들의 지역 정착 활성화에도 긍정적 효과가 기대된다.

Furthermore, the school plans to make changes to its overall curriculum with the goal of fostering ‘Global i-steel Young Meisters’ equipped with capabilities in data-driven decision-making and automation system control.

In particular, the core of this project is an industry-academia cooperation model linked with anchor companies representing the region, such as POSCO and EcoPro. Through the ‘DX Track’ and the ‘One Teacher, One Company’ system, jointly created by schools and companies, students are provided with field-tailored education, while also enhancing the connection to employment.

Educational innovation is being pursued in various ways across five areas: curriculum, industry-academia collaboration, teacher capabilities, student support, and facilities and equipment. The establishment of practice-oriented ‘Real Labs’ and the expansion of projects linked to industrial sites are also underway.

Ryu Si-kyung, Head of the Creative Talent Division at the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, stated, “This selection marks a turning point for Gyeongbuk’s vocational education as it moves toward future industries based on AI and digital technology,” adding, “We will continue to expand support to help students grow into cutting-edge technology talents.”

Through this project, the supply of specialized personnel tailored to the talent demands of local industries is expected to become significantly more robust. Furthermore, positive effects are anticipated not only in enhancing the employment competitiveness of high school graduates but also in promoting the settlement of young people in the region.
