가정의 달을 맞아 마련된 이번 공연은 부모 세대에게는 추억을, 자녀 세대에게는 효도의 기회를 제공하는 대표 기획공연으로, 국민가수 주현미의 단독 콘서트로 꾸며진다.

주현미는 1980년대 데뷔 이후 ‘신사동 그 사람’, ‘짝사랑’, ‘사랑님’, ‘울면서 후회하네’ 등 다수의 히트곡으로 큰 사랑을 받아온 대한민국 대표 트로트 가수다. 

이번 무대에서는 특유의 깊이 있는 음색과 섬세한 표현력을 바탕으로 ‘찔레꽃(1942)’, ‘불효자는 웁니다(1940)’, ‘이별의 부산정거장(1954)’, ‘노란 샤쓰의 사나이(1961)’ 등 시대를 대표하는 명곡들을 선보이며 한국 가요 100년의 흐름을 한 무대에 담아낼 예정이다.

특별 게스트로는 ‘끼쟁이’라는 별명으로 전 세대의 사랑을 받고 있는 트로트 가수 김수찬이 함께한다. 김수찬은 2017년 트로트 경연 프로그램을 통해 이름을 알린 이후 ‘내 마음속 최고’, ‘사랑의 트랙’ 등으로 활발한 활동을 이어가며 폭넓은 팬층을 확보하고 있다.

이번 공연은 주현미의 깊이 있는 보컬과 김수찬의 밝고 에너지 넘치는 무대가 어우러져 세대 간 공감을 이끄는 무대로 기대를 모은다. 또한 아코디언 김태호, 기타 홍성윤, 콘트라베이스 박한진, 퍼커션 김정균 등 실력 있는 연주자들이 참여해 라이브 연주의 완성도를 더한다.

아양아트센터 관계자는 “주현미의 품격 있는 보컬로 시대의 명곡을 재조명하는 이번 콘서트는 한국 대중음악의 흐름을 되짚는 의미 있는 무대가 될 것”이라며 “세대가 함께 공감하고 즐길 수 있는 특별한 시간이 될 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

Ayang Arts Center to Host ‘Love and Filial Piety Concert’… Featuring Joo Hyun-mi and Kim Soo-chan

The Ayang Arts Center, operated by the Daegu Dong-gu Cultural Foundation, will host the ‘Love and Filial Piety Concert <Joo Hyun-mi Sings a Century of Korean Music>’ on May 16 at 5:00 PM.

Prepared for Family Month, this performance is a representative special event designed to evoke memories for the parent generation and provide an opportunity for the younger generation to practice filial piety. It will feature a solo concert by the nation's beloved singer, Joo Hyun-mi.

Since her debut in the 1980s, Joo Hyun-mi has been a representative Korean trot singer who has been widely loved for numerous hit songs, including ‘That Person in Sinsadong,’ ‘Unrequited Love,’ ‘My Beloved,’ and ‘Regretting While Crying.’ Based on her distinctive deep vocal tone and delicate expressiveness, this performance is set to capture the flow of 100 years of Korean popular music on a single stage by showcasing iconic songs that represent different eras, such as "Wild Rose (1942)," "The Unfilial Son Weeps (1940)," "Busan Station of Farewell (1954)," and "The Man in the Yellow Shirt (1961)."

Joining as a special guest is Trot singer Kim Soo-chan, who is loved by all generations under the nickname "Kkijaengi" (meaning a talented performer). Since gaining recognition through a Trot competition program in 2017, Kim Soo-chan has secured a broad fan base through active promotions featuring songs like "The Best in My Heart" and "Track of Love."

This concert is garnering anticipation as a performance that fosters intergenerational empathy, blending Joo Hyun-mi's profound vocals with Kim Soo-chan's bright and energetic stage presence. In addition, talented musicians such as accordionist Kim Tae-ho, guitarist Hong Seong-yun, double bassist Park Han-jin, and percussionist Kim Jeong-gyun will participate to enhance the quality of the live performance.

An official from the Ayang Arts Center stated, "This concert, which reexamines classics of the era through Joo Hyun-mi's elegant vocals, will be a meaningful stage that traces the flow of Korean popular music," adding, "We expect it to be a special time where generations can empathize and enjoy together."
