경북도는 이번 행사에서 구미시, 포항시, 한국로봇융합연구원과 함께 홍보관을 운영하며 경북 로봇산업의 미래 비전과 휴머노이드 로봇산업 중심지로서의 경쟁력을 국내외 기업에 집중 소개할 계획이다.

올해로 9회째를 맞는 ‘AI EXPO KOREA’는 국내 최대 규모의 인공지능 전문 전시회로, 약 350개 AI 관련 기업과 기관이 참가하고 5만여 명의 참관객이 찾을 것으로 예상된다.

전시회에서는 인공지능 솔루션과 인프라, 산업별 AI 적용 사례 등이 소개되며, 경북도는 이를 계기로 제조업 AI 전환(AX)과 로봇산업 육성 전략을 적극 알릴 방침이다.

특히 경북도는 이번 행사에서 ‘K-로봇 메가클러스터’ 구상을 핵심 전략으로 내세운다. 해당 모델은 구미의 반도체·전자 기반 부품 생산 역량과 포항의 AI·이차전지 기반 실증 인프라를 연계해 로봇산업 전주기 밸류체인을 구축하는 것이 핵심이다.

구미는 반도체와 전자부품, 정밀제조 분야의 대기업 및 협력업체가 밀집해 있어 로봇 핵심부품 생산과 공급망 구축에 강점을 보유하고 있으며, 포항은 포스텍과 한국로봇융합연구원 등을 중심으로 연구개발과 실증 인프라가 집적돼 있다는 평가를 받고 있다.

경북도는 이를 기반으로 부품 생산부터 완제품 상용화, 현장 실증까지 이어지는 로봇산업 생태계를 조성한다는 계획이다.

또 특화단지 지정 시 지역경제 파급효과도 클 것으로 기대하고 있다. 경북도는 150개 로봇기업 육성과 3천 명 이상의 전문인력 양성, 약 1조 원 규모의 투자 유치와 2천 명 이상의 신규 고용 창출 효과를 전망하고 있다.

코엑스 Hall A 부스(A12)에 마련된 경상북도 홍보관에서는 특화단지 유치 전략과 함께 기업 지원 정책 소개, 현장 상담, 네트워크 구축 활동도 진행된다.

아울러 AI 기술 세미나와 투자유치 상담회 등 전시회 연계 프로그램에도 참여해 국내외 기업과 투자자를 대상으로 경북의 산업 경쟁력을 적극 홍보할 계획이다.

양금희 경상북도 경제부지사는 “AI 기술과 로봇산업은 함께 성장하는 미래 핵심 산업”이라며 “산·학·연 협력을 기반으로 한 경북의 강점을 적극 알리고, 오는 7월 예정된 로봇 국가첨단전략산업 특화단지 지정에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Gumi possesses strengths in the production of core robot components and the establishment of supply chains due to the concentration of large corporations and partner companies in the semiconductor, electronic component, and precision manufacturing sectors. Meanwhile, Pohang is recognized for having a concentration of R&D and demonstration infrastructure centered around POSTECH and the Korea Institute of Robotics and Convergence.

Based on this foundation, Gyeongbuk Province plans to create a robot industry ecosystem that spans from component production to the commercialization of finished products and field demonstration.

Furthermore, the designation of a specialized complex is expected to have a significant ripple effect on the local economy. Gyeongsangbuk-do anticipates fostering 150 robot companies, training over 3,000 skilled professionals, attracting approximately 1 trillion won in investment, and creating over 2,000 new jobs.

At the Gyeongsangbuk-do promotional booth (Booth A12) in Hall A of COEX, the province will present strategies for attracting specialized industrial complexes, introduce corporate support policies, conduct on-site consultations, and engage in networking activities.

In addition, the province plans to actively promote Gyeongsangbuk-do's industrial competitiveness to domestic and international companies and investors by participating in exhibition-linked programs, such as AI technology seminars and investment consultation sessions.

Yang Geum-hee, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongsangbuk-do, stated, "AI technology and the robot industry are key future industries that grow together." She added, "We will actively promote Gyeongsangbuk-do's strengths based on industry-academia-research collaboration and do our utmost to secure the designation of the National Advanced Strategic Robotics Industrial Complex, scheduled for this coming July."
