그는 과거 검사 재직 시절 자신이 맡았던 슬롯머신 사건 수사를 언급하며 “정덕진의 자백을 받기 위해 담배도 권하고 소주도 권했다”고 적었다. 이어 “피의자가 자백하더라도 그것이 보강증거로 담보되지 않으면 허위자백이 되기 때문에 검사는 자백의 진실성 여부를 다시 체크한다”고 주장했다.

또 한나라당 시절을 거론하며 “공안검사 출신 C의원이 민중당 출신 L의원을 수사하면서 검찰청에서 짬뽕도 사주고 짜장면도 사주면서 수사를 진행했다”고 소개했다. 이어 “검사와 피의자 관계로 만났다가 같은 당 의원이 되면서 두 사람은 유독 친했다”고 덧붙였다.

홍 전 시장은 최근 논란이 된 박상용 검사의 ‘연어 술파티 사건’에 대해 “검찰 수사 실무를 모르는 사람들이 그걸 트집 잡는다”며 “박상용 검사를 자백 강요로 몰고 가는 것은 잘못된 것”이라고 주장했다.
