청도군과 사단법인 경북시민재단이 운영하는 청도혁신센터는 오는 29일 주민 주도형 지역사회 혁신의 거점 공간인 청도상상마루 개관 행사를 개최한다고 밝혔다.

청도상상마루는 과거 공용 버스터미널로 사용되던 공간을 리모델링해 조성된 곳으로, 지역 주민과 방문객, 청소년, 이주노동자 등 다양한 구성원이 자유롭게 머물며 교류할 수 있는 열린 커뮤니티 공간으로 운영된다.

기존 이동 중심 공간이었던 터미널이 이제는 주민 간 소통과 일상의 만남, 새로운 지역 활동이 시작되는 장소로 탈바꿈한 셈이다.

해당 시설은 도시재생사업을 통해 기반이 마련됐으며, 이후 청도군과 청도혁신센터가 협력해 지역 소통협력 기능을 강화하는 방향으로 운영 체계를 구축했다.

청도혁신센터는 청도상상마루를 단순한 문화·편의시설이 아닌 지역 문제 해결과 주민 참여 활동이 이뤄지는 지역사회 혁신 플랫폼으로 발전시켜 나간다는 계획이다. 주민들의 생활 속 고민과 관심사를 중심으로 다양한 대화와 실험, 협력 활동이 이어질 수 있도록 공간을 운영할 방침이다.

특히 공간 구성 역시 프로그램 운영 중심이 아니라 사람 간 연결과 교류에 초점을 맞췄다. 카페와 공유오피스, 다목적홀, 커뮤니티 공간, 헬스장 등은 이용자들이 자연스럽게 관계를 형성하고 협업할 수 있도록 설계됐다.

개관 행사는 ‘지나던 곳에서, 머무는 곳으로’를 주제로 진행된다. 행사에서는 공간의 과거 기억을 담은 전시와 시민 참여형 질문 수집 프로그램, 공간 체험 콘텐츠 등이 운영돼 방문객들이 자유롭게 소통하고 공간의 의미를 경험할 수 있도록 구성된다.

청도혁신센터는 앞으로 주민 참여 기반 프로젝트를 지속적으로 발굴하고 지역 안팎의 협력 네트워크와 연계해 청도상상마루를 지역 공동체의 공공 자산으로 성장시켜 나갈 계획이다.

청도혁신센터 관계자는 “청도상상마루는 완성된 공간을 보여주는 곳이 아니라 주민들의 작은 질문과 시도가 시작되는 공간”이라며 “누구나 자유롭게 참여하고 그 경험이 다시 지역의 변화로 이어질 수 있는 흐름을 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.

The Cheongdo Innovation Center, operated by Cheongdo County and the Gyeongbuk Citizens Foundation, announced that it will hold an opening ceremony for Cheongdo Sangsang Maru on the 29th. This space serves as a hub for resident-led local community innovation.

Cheongdo Sangsang Maru was created by remodeling a space formerly used as a public bus terminal. It operates as an open community space where diverse groups, including local residents, visitors, youth, and migrant workers, can freely stay and interact.

In essence, the terminal, which was previously a space focused on transportation, has been transformed into a venue for communication among residents, daily encounters, and the initiation of new local activities.

The foundation for this facility was established through an urban regeneration project, and subsequently, Cheongdo County and the Cheongdo Innovation Center collaborated to build an operational system designed to strengthen regional communication and cooperation functions. The Cheongdo Innovation Center plans to develop Cheongdo Sangsang Maru not merely as a cultural and convenience facility, but as a community innovation platform where local issues are resolved and resident participation activities take place. In particular, the spatial layout focuses on human connection and exchange rather than program operation. The café, co-working space, multi-purpose hall, community space, and gym are designed to allow users to naturally form relationships and collaborate.

The opening ceremony will be held under the theme "From a Place Passed By to a Place to Stay." The event will feature an exhibition capturing the space's past memories, a citizen-participatory question collection program, and experiential content, designed to allow visitors to communicate freely and experience the meaning of the space.

Moving forward, the Cheongdo Innovation Center plans to continuously discover resident-participation-based projects and connect them with collaborative networks both within and outside the region to grow Cheongdo Sangsang Maru into a public asset for the local community.

An official from the Cheongdo Innovation Center stated, “Cheongdo Sangsang Maru is not a place that showcases a finished space, but rather a space where residents’ small questions and attempts begin,” adding, “We will create a flow where anyone can freely participate and that experience leads back to change in the region.”
