포항해양경찰서(서장 이근안)는 지난 31일 오후 9시 26분께 포항파출소의 어선위치발신장치(V-PASS) 모니터링 과정에서 위험구역 진입 알람이 감지됐다고 밝혔다.

해경은 즉시 해당 어선 A호(9톤급·승선원 2명) 선장과 연락을 취한 결과, 포항 송도 잠제 인근 해역에서 선박이 좌초된 사실을 확인했다.

신고 접수 직후 포항파출소와 포항구조대, 경비함정 203정을 현장에 급파했으며, 확인 결과 A호는 우현으로 기울어진 상태로 암초에 걸려 있었다.

해경은 구조대와 연안구조정 해상팀을 투입해 승선원들의 안전 상태를 점검한 뒤, 이초 작업 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 위험을 고려해 구조정으로 승선원 2명을 모두 안전하게 구조했다.

이후 민간해양구조선 B호(4톤급)와 C호(7톤급)를 동원해 선박을 이동시키기 위한 이초 작업을 시도했으나, 수심과 조류 등의 영향으로 작업이 쉽지 않아 일시 중단됐다.

현재까지 확인된 인명피해는 없으며, 해경은 해양오염 발생 여부를 조사하고 있다. 또한 만조 시간에 맞춰 이초 작업을 재개할 계획이며, 작업이 이뤄질 때까지 포항파출소를 중심으로 좌초 선박에 대한 안전관리를 이어갈 방침이다.

이근안 포항해양경찰서장은 “승선원 2명 모두 안전하게 구조된 상태”라며 “해양오염 등 추가 피해가 발생하지 않도록 현장 안전관리에 만전을 기하고 있다”고 밝혔다.
