DGIST는 KAIST, GIST, UNIST와 함께 과학기술정보통신부 후원으로 ‘2026 이머징테크 글로벌 론치패드(Emerging Tech Global Launchpad)’를 운영하고, 오는 6월 19일까지 참가 기업을 모집한다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 인공지능(AI), 로봇, 바이오, 반도체 등 이머징테크 분야 스타트업이 글로벌 시장에서 기술력과 사업성을 검증하고 성장 기회를 확보할 수 있도록 지원하기 위해 마련됐다. 기업의 성장 단계와 해외 진출 수준에 따라 맞춤형 프로그램을 제공하며, 4대 과학기술원이 구축한 국내외 창업 네트워크와 협력 인프라를 적극 활용할 계획이다.

프로그램은 ‘글로벌 진출 트랙(Go-To-Global)’과 ‘글로벌 준비 트랙(Born-To-Global)’ 두 개 과정으로 운영된다.

글로벌 진출 트랙은 이미 해외 시장 진출을 준비하거나 초기 단계에 진입한 기업을 대상으로 한다. 선정 기업은 해외 현지에서 기술 실증(PoC)을 진행하며 기술 적합성과 사업화 가능성을 검증할 수 있다. 또한 현지 기업 및 기관과의 협력 연계, 실증 환경 제공, 전문가 멘토링과 네트워킹 프로그램 등의 지원도 받게 된다.

글로벌 준비 트랙은 해외 시장 진출을 본격적으로 준비하는 기업을 위한 과정이다. 글로벌 비즈니스 모델 고도화, 투자 유치 전략 수립, 해외 시장 진입 방안 등을 중심으로 교육과 액셀러레이팅 프로그램이 제공된다. 이후 미국과 싱가포르 등 주요 혁신 거점에서 개최되는 국제 컨퍼런스 참가 기회를 연계해 투자자와 산업 관계자들과의 교류도 지원할 예정이다.

참여 대상은 4대 과학기술원이 담당하는 권역 내 이머징테크 기업이다. DGIST는 대구·경북권, KAIST는 중부권, GIST는 호남권, UNIST는 동남권 기업을 각각 맡는다. 다만 기업 대표가 해당 과학기술원 소속 연구자나 교원, 대학원생인 경우에는 기업 소재지와 관계없이 소속 기관을 통해 신청할 수 있다.

이건우 DGIST 총장은 “기술 기반 스타트업이 글로벌 시장에서 경쟁력을 확보하기 위해서는 우수한 기술력뿐 아니라 현지 시장에 대한 검증과 사업화 역량이 필수적”이라며 “4대 과학기술원이 협력해 유망 기업들이 해외 시장에서 성장 기반을 마련할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 이번 프로그램은 4대 과학기술원이 공동 운영한 ‘GRAVITY 2026(딥테크 학생창업 통합리그)’에 이어 협력 범위를 확대해 추진하는 사업이다. 학생 창업 지원을 넘어 지역 기반 딥테크 스타트업의 해외 실증과 글로벌 시장 진출까지 지원 영역을 넓혔다는 점에서 의미를 더하고 있다.

DGIST, KAIST, GIST, and UNIST Step Up to Support Deep Tech Startups' Global Expansion

A global startup support program designed to assist domestic technology-based startups in entering overseas markets and generating commercialization results is set to be launched in earnest.

DGIST announced that, together with KAIST, GIST, and UNIST and under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Science and ICT, it will operate the "2026 Emerging Tech Global Launchpad" and is recruiting participating companies until June 19.

This initiative was established to support startups in emerging tech fields—such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, biotechnology, and semiconductors—in verifying their technological capabilities and business viability in the global market and securing growth opportunities. The program will provide customized resources tailored to each company's growth stage and level of overseas expansion, and plans to actively utilize the domestic and international startup networks and collaborative infrastructure established by the four leading science and technology institutes.

The program will operate through two tracks: the "Go-To-Global Track" and the "Born-To-Global Track." The Global Expansion Track targets companies that are already preparing to enter overseas markets or have entered the early stages of doing so. Selected companies can verify their technological suitability and commercialization potential by conducting Proof of Concept (PoC) in overseas locations. They will also receive support such as collaboration linkages with local companies and institutions, provision of demonstration environments, expert mentoring, and networking programs.

The Global Preparation Track is designed for companies preparing to enter overseas markets in earnest. Education and acceleration programs are provided, focusing on refining global business models, establishing investment attraction strategies, and developing strategies for entering overseas markets. Subsequently, opportunities to participate in international conferences held in major innovation hubs such as the United States and Singapore will be linked to facilitate exchanges with investors and industry stakeholders.

Participation is open to emerging tech companies within the regions managed by the four major science and technology institutes. DGIST covers the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, KAIST the Central region, GIST the Honam region, and UNIST the Southeast region. However, if the company representative is a researcher, faculty member, or graduate student affiliated with the relevant institute, they may apply through their affiliated institution regardless of the company's location.

DGIST President Lee Kun-woo stated, “For technology-based startups to secure competitiveness in the global market, not only superior technological capabilities but also verification of local markets and commercialization capabilities are essential.” He added, “We will actively support promising companies in establishing a foundation for growth in overseas markets through the cooperation of the four leading science and technology institutes.”

Meanwhile, this program is an initiative expanding the scope of cooperation following ‘GRAVITY 2026 (Integrated Deep Tech Student Startup League),’ which was jointly operated by the four institutes. It holds particular significance in that it has broadened the scope of support beyond student startup assistance to include overseas validation and global market entry for regional deep tech startups.
