【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항해양경찰서가 여름철 해양활동 증가에 대비해 음주운항 예방과 해양 안전의식 확산을 위한 합동 캠페인을 실시했다.
포항해양경찰서(서장 이근안)는 지난 9일 오전 포항여객선터미널과 용한항 일원에서 포항북구보건소 중독관리센터, 한국해양교통안전공단 포항운항관리센터, 한국해운조합과 함께 음주운항 근절 캠페인을 진행했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 선박 운항자와 여객선 이용객을 대상으로 음주운항의 위험성을 알리고 해양 안전에 대한 경각심을 높이기 위해 마련됐다.
캠페인 현장에서는 참가자들이 직접 체험하며 음주의 위험성을 이해할 수 있도록 다양한 프로그램이 운영됐다. 주요 프로그램은 음주 관련 상식을 알아보는 OX퀴즈를 비롯해 음주 체험 고글을 착용한 상태에서 컵 쌓기와 직선 걷기를 수행하는 가상 음주체험, 알코올 중독 상담, 음주운항 관련 처벌 규정 안내, 구명조끼 착용법 교육 등으로 구성됐다.
특히 가상 음주체험 프로그램은 음주 상태에서 나타나는 신체 균형감각 저하와 판단력 감소를 직접 경험할 수 있도록 해 참가자들의 관심을 모았다.
포항해경은 이번 캠페인을 통해 선박 운항자의 안전 의식을 높이고 해양 사고 예방에 대한 공감대를 확산하는 데 중점을 뒀다고 설명했다.
이근안 포항해양경찰서장은 “음주운항은 운항자 개인의 문제가 아니라 승선자와 주변 선박의 안전까지 위협하는 중대한 위험행위”라며 “앞으로도 음주운항 예방 활동을 지속적으로 추진해 안전한 해양문화가 정착될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
