【브레이크뉴스 울진】이우근 기자=한국수력원자력 한울원자력본부(본부장 이세용)는 지난 12일 열린 ‘2025년도 한울본부 주변 환경방사능 조사설명회’에서 한울원전 주변 지역의 환경방사능 상태가 매우 양호한 수준으로 확인됐다고 밝혔다.
이번 설명회에서는 환경방사능조사 용역기관인 경북대학교 방사선과학연구소가 수행한 조사 결과가 공개됐다.
연구소는 한울본부 주변 지역에서 채취한 정규시료 673개와 주민들이 분석을 의뢰한 주민관심시료 82개 등 총 755개 시료를 대상으로 방사능 분석을 실시했다.
설명회에는 지역 주민과 언론인, 한울원전환경감시위원회 관계자 등이 참석해 조사 결과와 평가 내용을 공유하고 질의응답을 진행했다.
조사 결과에 따르면 발전소 주변 지역의 환경방사능 수준은 정상 범위 내에서 관리되고 있으며, 원전 운영으로 인한 특이사항은 확인되지 않은 것으로 나타났다.
한울본부는 발전소 주변 환경의 안전성을 지속적으로 확인하기 위해 정기적인 환경방사능 조사를 실시하고 있으며, 조사 결과를 지역사회와 공유하는 등 투명한 정보 공개에도 힘쓰고 있다.
한울본부 관계자는 “앞으로도 발전소 주변 지역에 대한 환경방사능 조사를 지속적으로 수행해 원전 운영이 환경에 미치는 영향을 면밀히 모니터링하고, 지역 주민들이 안심할 수 있도록 안전관리에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Headquarters (Head: Lee Se-yong) announced at the ‘2025 Briefing on Environmental Radiation Survey Around Hanul Headquarters’ held on the 12th that the environmental radiation status in the area surrounding the Hanul plant was confirmed to be at a very good level.
At this briefing, the results of the survey conducted by the Radiation Science Research Institute at Kyungpook National University, the agency commissioned for the environmental radiation survey, were disclosed.
